LIVE THE DREAM!!!! 4SBB!!!
why is she always yelling that? you'll have to ask her. but she has put a lot of work into 4th Street, including (i think) the installment of the bicycle crossing button on 4th/Normandie, which doesn't actually work... but it looks like the city cares...
i don't remember how i first met ingrid but do remember her bicycle choreography and safety vests. ask her how to get to the west side from the east side and she'll have a nice route for you. ask her to go to scoops and she'll meet you there... unless she's feeling like a lazy ass and you end up going alone. and if you want to get harassed by the guards at BCAM/LACMA, take her with you.
LIVE THE DREAM!!!

In the good cop/bad cop dynamic that is necessary to win respect from politicians and the power structure, Ingrid is most definitely one of the good cops. It's a thankless task. So...thanks!

Ingipet planned a perfect route for the ALC team from the ride finishing point to pure luck. (flat and with stop signs to blow through as far as the eye could see!) That was my first time meeting her... and therefore, I'm destined to love her forever.

It was awesome sharing a bicycle shaped pancake with you friday night.
Keep up your tenacious work moving (or perhaps dragging) this city to a better place no matter how sisyphusian the job may seem.

holy crap. 11 questions...that's like homework!!
okay, um. let's see---first 4.
1. When did you first ride a bike? How did you fall in love with bikes?
Tricycle, age 2. Blue. First bicycle age 5, training wheels. On to the 10 speed by age 11....used to go on "long" rides through Eagle Rock to the ole' Eagle Rock Plaza. Fell in love with bicycle officially in 2006 when I started riding in L.A. ...especially when i heard about this wild monthly ride called "Midnight Ridazz"....
2. Where do you think bicycle culture will be in the next 5 years?
We will be more organized, positive and politically effective. We will achieve our goals by working together. Big huge fun rides will continue with a dramatically increased awareness about group safety. We will model good behavior and be welcoming to new riders.
3. What would be your ideal of our Los Angeles bicycle future?
Bicycle Boulevards everywhere, criss-crossing this great city. Sharrows on hundreds of streets. Transit system includes bicycles as it grows. The MTA Board of Directors publically acknowledges the benefits of bicycles in an incredible display...
this just in --- BICYCLES ARE A VIABLE MODE OF TRANSPORTATION!!!
4. How do you plan to change bicycle infrastructure? What steps?
Continue to convince the City Council, the mayor, the MTA Board of Directors and LADOT that bicycle infrastructure is a cost-effective WIN-WIN situation for a town struggling with congestion and high gas prices.
Commute to work via bicycle. Wear SAFETY VEST.
actually, i change my whole answer to :
WEAR A SAFETY VEST.

skipping around ---
10. What do you think of fixed geared bikes? Why?
I flipped my hub to the fixed side two weeks ago on my Bianchi.
I love it! I don't know how to skid very well and I have TWO brakes. However, despite the fixed gear I am still not at all "hip". Upon talking to me it should become clear that I am in fact, a nerd.
"Dork" is also acceptable. I'm a librarian for crying out loud!!
11. When is the next bike dance competition? Are you ready?
We've got some plans in the works for a bike dance event at a friend's upcoming video/media arts festival on Hollywood Blvd.
FREEWAVES
so yes, I'm ready!!!

and to finish! i hope i pass!! what do i get?
saved some of the hardest ones for last-
6. Why do you do the things you do for the cycling community. What's your motivation?
I want to see a shift in my lifetime. I want it to be safer out there.
I want it to be commonplace to ride a bicycle for fun or more practical purposes.
7. What are the obstacles that you think Bicycle Community faces?
We lack a cohesive common agenda to unite around. We waste too much effort and time with bickering and trying to solve internal problems. This makes it harder to achieve goals on a political front, but also creates a kind of unpleasant "vibe" on occaision....
8. If you could change one thing about cycling in our city right now, what would it be?
I wish there was more awareness, courtesy and respect from motorists.
9. What is one of your favorite memories from Midnight Ridazz rides?
Phew! an easy one! or is it hard because there are so many to choose from?!
The Glo-Ride was very beautiful and moving on a number of levels. As was the Art Ride back when..ooo and the Safety and awareness Ride 2!!
I'm pretty sure my first ride was "Pizza delivery to the Mafia" or some thing like that.... there were SOOOOOOOOOOOO many people there and i will never forget turning out from pioneer chicken and the whole mass of us just turning onto Sunset!! Cars honking, people cheering....awesome.
woot!
