Hahah. oh man. I love the cubbies, and I appreciate Richie & Marcus for their ambitious efforts on making Ridazz on the Westside. But... yeah, no. Fuck the Westside and their draconian Pigs and their tactics.
Hope everyone made it out alive.

It is possible to get to the beach/Venice/MDR/Moustache to pass bridge and Jetty without going through Santa Monica & CC. I do believe we can have an awesome Westside Ride sans tickets or Police Hassle. I say Make It Happen!
And why don't we ever stop at Mar Vista Park or even deep inside Rancho Park (as Barleye brought to my attention). Just thinking about new stopping points...

The Y sucked big time......
not as sucky as being injured and handicapped and not being able to go to the ride.
Why not explore other parts of the city that we haven't been to yet?
HINT CLUE SUGGESTION
Find stop location where we are not going to get complaints from the neighbors. There got to be plenty of spot in our great city, that can accommodate our noisy selves
YES YES westside during the summer, but once fall happens, let go other spots in the city

Kinda kookie, stays in LA for the most part. Lots of hills, but that on the way out, not so much going to the ocean.

I second that nomination.
SMPD made up for their "no show" during the Santa Monica Critical Mass last week. What a massive force, you would think we were rapists, murderers and bank robbers riding through Santa Monica.
I was especially intrigued to see they brought the dogs. K-9 units were called in.
A lot of tickets were written. I counted seven alone. Some of the infractions were: no lights, running stop signs, running red lights and riding on the sidewalk (illegal in Santa Monica but legal in the City of Los Angeles).
I just hope some Santa Monica resident wasn't getting murdered, raped or robbed and couldn't find a cop to help them. A real waste of taxpayer money. cops chasing bicycles.

I'm by no means siding with the SMPD. They where just doing there job last night. They got complaints and they responded. Does it seem heavy handed to have so many cops?. Did it seem like a good idea to them with a couple of hundred people to deal with?
Yes and
most likely yes.
You don't continue to have a noisy party's at your house if it is pissing off the neighbors. I don't think people want to be disturbed while they are sleep, I have sympathy for anybody who gets waken out of a sleep, it can wreck your whole day. People should be able to sleep without disturbance.
In any situation, you can cry victim. Or you can figure out what happen, and try not to get in the situation again. Let take responsibility for what we are doing, and go to place where we can raise hell and not distribute anybody peace at the same time. It's a big city.
When you come home after a ride, do you make noise and raise hell, that would wake your roommate, neighbors, family etc up. I think not.
Why don't we try to be good neighbors

If they responded to a loud noise complaint, they sure made a lot of noise themselves. Shadowing us with occasional blares of their sirens and their barking dogs. Shouting over their loud speakers ( I am sure the sleeping neighbors loved that), "stay in the right lane!" Then they proceeded to pick people off, tall cans on his tall bike, jaz, and others.

The best thing, probably the easiest thing, to do is to file a whole shit ton of complaints. We have an easy way to do this using a webform . . . who is interested?

The incident at the Bikerowave really was handled poorly by us. We could have avoided probably getting any tickets if we held our grounds. Just really pissed me off how everyone just scattered at the site of these police units showing up. Talking about making the job easier for the cops!!
First of all what was the reason for the cops showing up? Blocking traffic and noise. So we could have and should have gotten out the street and turn down the noise. We could have gotten into the the parking area of the Bikerowave and chilled there until the cops left. We could have stood our ground and found out what the problem was. Let's do it next time, yeah?

The more I hear of these SMPD incidents, I'm now under the suspicion that there are too many cops for a small city, and too little crime to be dealt with.
So, they find the nearest thing that resembles a disturbance and disrupt it to make themselves appear busy to their supervisors, concerned residents, busy-bodies, etc.,
On another note, we're still understaffed up here in Victimville.
With all the ricer's crashing into each other and gangbangers shooting up Adelanto, the sheriff's department, fire department, and paramedics are all equally drained.

Allen, you and I talked about this Sat night at the Ridge way party. I am in total agreement.
We should have sent out our negotiators when the cops surrounded us at Bikerowave. You, Harry, Big Bike Dan, etc go out and talk to the SMPD, find out why they were called and how we can rectify the situation. We might have been able to avoid the tickets and harassment altogether.
We can't always cut and run, it is becoming too costly to our riders.
