Desert Trip - Autonomous Music Festival

Autonomous Festival Summer 2008 June 28TH
I mentioned this to some of yall this weekend, I just wanted to see who might be into another Desert Trip!
What is it?
The Autonomous Festival is a collection of camps with an emphasis on performance. Another way of thinking of it is a completely free music festival, but officially, it is a collection of camps. We are looking to build a collective environment in which everyone looks out for each other.
When is it?
The main events are set for Saturday June 28th. Advanced groups will be arriving at the site on Friday June 27th, and leaving that Sunday.
Where is it?
It is set to take place in the Desert North of Los Angeles, far away from city lights. It is also far way from city services, so campers must take responsibility for their own comfort and safety.
(from Marcus -- > i am not sure how i saw a map of this previously, but its about 250 miles to the Northeast)

It would be a lot like the MR desert trips, with a (few) hundred others! The "camps" idea is like Burning Man I suppose, but I have never been to either so meh...
I cant find a f*cking address/intersection/gps-loc anywhere, but I will post it asap.

Sounds like the big, GodAwful, patch of nothingness that comprises the 138 between Lancaster and Victimville.
I'm down if I got the time.
BBQ, bonfire, telescopes, scary-tales of the headless-bandit, and all else that comprises an old-fashioned, desert campfire-fest.

GODDAMN IT... Everyone who can go, should go. I will be in another country, so I can't make it. But, I would if I could. Take what we've learned from the past two desert trips and go FUTURE THROTTLE (which is further than FULL).
It sounds like a little burning man trip. Do it. Do it.

OK HERE'S THE DEAL
Where is it?
IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE, California
Directions:
I-15 towards Vegas, exit at the second Stoddard Wells Exit, called "Stoddard Wells / Bell Mountain". Go East (left) and go 4.5 miles. You will cross railroad tracks and the road becomes dirt. Continue 8 miles to an unnatural suburban street sign in the middle of the desert. Avoid leaving the road. We'll see you there.
CAMP - RIDE - PARTY!
lets do it!
If you went to (or wanted to go to) Salton Sea, Amboy, or other Ridazz Road Trips, or you are itching for a little taste of Burning Man, grab your sleeping bag, your bike, and COME ON OUT!

Whatever it is, hit me up.
Looks like I'll be working weekends for now, but the job is quite cushy and I get of at 2100.
I propose we meet up at the Vons off of Bear Valley and Hesperia roads.
Then we take Hesperia Rd up to Hwy 18, follow that towards Tuscola, and that will take us to the mountain!!!
Jude and Richtotheie know somewhat of this route.

Well, if I'm not doing any loads on the weekend, I'll probably be back home in Hesperia.
I'll just ride the fifteen miles from my house via Hesperia Rd
Only other eyesores in this part of the area are the WalMart Distribution Center, Apple Valley Muni Airport, and a juvenile lock-up.
Like anyone would give a shit, except for the desert-rats in the adjacent hills.

"I take it I should bring a mountain bike to this thing?"
As blasphemous as it may be I'm not bringing my bike. Partly in tribute to the other desert trip this weekend.
I'm shooting to leave Burbank by 3pm Saturday and heading home whenever I wake up Sunday.
Since I haven't had the time to build anything the only structure I'm bringing is my Lo Desert Lodge Lecturn:
So, I have room for two if my schedule fits yours.

If I'm home on Saturday, I'll be riding to this thing from Hesperia.
If anyone wants, I know of a few places where cars could be parked and a ride-to-an-event could be established.
And for anyone interested, the Bowen Ranch Hot Springs up near Deep Creek are nearby.
If my younger brother and his cronies didn't attack the place with their plinkin' contests yet!!!

no, no, great opportunities for bikes out there, particularly mtn bikes, this is the terrain a couple of miles from the campsite:

I think I am getting a ride from Yodel-Icious. And I don't care what anybody says, I'm bringing a bike. You don't show up to a Midnight Ridazz event without a bike! It's like walking to a meeting of your car club.

@PC: even though you made fun of my hair, you're still getting a ride with me and vspangle. i'll call tonight with details or 30169threethree249 (that's an MD area code, not 310)
@franz: you can ride with us but i don't have room for anymore bikes.

Well, it was going to be a blast but it turned into a bust instead with a dozen sheriffs, CHPs, BLM and a helicopter harassing us in the middle of nowhere. Something about BLM regulations against having F.U.N. in the desert, of which I'm intimately familiar.
But, things are never truly a bust when you're with a bunch of YAYSAYERS and you know you're close to and know the general location of a bunch more YAYSAYERS. After getting kicked off of our Autonomous lands yo d, B-Rad, montana joe, User1, me, vspangle, and PC held a quick strategy meeting at the thrifty gas on Palmdale Rd and decided to find the other high desert crew up at Deep Creek Hot Springs. Our little caravan reached their campsite at around 11:30pm just in time for evening vituals. And good times were had by all around the campfire.
Thanks User1 for the company on the way out, and thanks vspangle and limey for the company on the way home!

He showed up at 7am! He walked for 12 hours yesterday, slept on a road with his towel and 3 Tecates, some woman found him this morning, she took him into town, and he got a cab ride back out to the hot springs. Just before they were getting ready to send out the search teams!
