We had so much fun last time that people requested an encore!
We'll leave a little earlier than before and go a little further than the last time by rolling through santa monica a bit after we come back down the coast!
I'm really proud/excited to say that we will be joined on The Passion of the Bike by at least one of our original participants who now must travel all the way from San Francisco to get his FREEDOM fix!
We shall be graced with the long-missed presence of Jason, AKA Soultrain, in town from up north.
Does anyone have any blue face paint or know the best place to find some for cheap? I have a feeling we're going to need it...
I wish there was a tutorial like that 'cause I see plenty of stuff on the threads that I have no idea how to execute.
With youtube videos it's actually pretty easy to do because there's a little box on the video page that says "embed" and you can copy/paste the code from that box into the body of your post on MR to embed it.
since I'm going as Jerry Fletcher from Conspiracy Theory, I think I'll just handcuff myself to my bike frame, blow something up and start running in circles, insisting that the government is coming for me
yeah, harry just had back surgery so he'll be out for a while. Can anyone get ahold of Caesar? I haven't printed/laminated the spoke cards yet. Any help would be much appreciated in that department. I have a graphic I can email for them
I checked with BBD on the sound system, but he's doing another ride that night. I'll try to convince him at LACM that he's better off doing this ride. It may cost me a few Tecates but worth it!
i just wanna say that since my bike is fucked up i might have to come on a mountain bike in which case im going to be very slow due to the slow bike in conjunction with a full chicken outfit...be prepared to slow down for me if this is the case...regardless, i plan to make bretts mom proud.
dear all, unfortunately, my dad, who just had prostate cancer, has just decided that he needs me to stay with him tonight.

i was super pumped for passion of the bike
i even customized my chicken little costume.

im also sorry for subjecting everyone to this posting, except bretts mom.
coe, you were missed. I will alert HH to your needs.
Thanks to everyone who came!
Even if they didn't let us into Moonshadows (presumably due to a private party) it was fun riding up and down the coast together and screaming "FREEEEEEEDOMMMMMM!" whenever we passed people.
I hope everyone had a good time in spite of my TWO flat tires.
Fun Ride, but Moonshadows sucks for discriminating against us.
I have already talked with the hostess "Kellee" and she said "There is no dress code and that there was no private party last night".
I will be talking with the manager tomorrow to discuss how Moonshadows will compensate us for this discrimination.
I do not know his name (sorry) but the gentleman with the shoulder pads and helmet who called Moonshadows when we were there, please call me or email me at:
XL@redstarartists.com or (310)621-1869 Thanks
We cannot let discrimination happen based on Race, Religion, Economic Status, or Bicycle Affiliation. Indifference to discrimination is just as bad as the discrimination itself.
The ones of that random chick from Moonshadows are totally hot. Everyone should go vote them most sexy.
Keep me posted about Moonshadows. Having worked in a call center for 4 years and been a supervisor taking escalated calls I know how to push people's buttons.
Thanks everyone for an awesome time last night and for hosting another awesome ride! It was good to see everyone last night. I hope you guys can make it up to the bay area so we can do some rides up there! I'll be happy to map out some routes for riding! (some that do no include hills!) :-D
It was a pleasure riding and chatting last night! You are an awesome person and I look forward to riding The Bay Bridge and thru San Fran and will let you know when we plan the redwood ride in the fall..
Check this out (what we were talking about last night)
Thanks to Ryan and company for putting this ride together. I had a blast and wasn't nearly as bad of road conditions that I was expecting. Wish we could have hung out with you guys at the beach all night! Hope we do this again next year. YEAH!!!!
XL, I'll call you tonite. Getting the bum rush treatment there bugs the fuck out of me too!
JUST TALKED WITH THE NIGHT MANAGER OF MOONSHADOWS "CHRIS" AND TOLD HIM ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED SATURDAY NIGHT. HE SAID HE WOULD TALK WITH THE GENERAL MANAGER AND GET BACK TO ME.
JUST SPOKE TO THE ASSHOLE MANAGER AT MOONSHADOWS (HIS NAME IS CHRIS 310-456-3813 or 310-456-3010) WHEN I TALKED WITH HIM LAST MONDAY HE SAID THAT HE WOULD LOOK INTO THE DISCRIMINATION THAT TOOK PLACE ON SATURDAY NIGHT JULY 27TH. NOW THAT DICKHEAD SAYS HE IS "NOW" FAMILIAR WITH MIDNIGHT RIDAZZ AND SAYS "I DON'T WANT THAT CIRCUS ATMOSPHERE IN MY RESTAURANT." "IT'S MY RESTAURANT AND I CAN REFUSE ANYONE ENTRANCE FOR ANYTHING I FEEL LIKE". IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO TELL CHRIS WHAT YOU THINK OF THIS POLICY PLEASE GIVE HIM A CALL OR LEAVE A MESSAGE FOR HIM AT MOONSHADOWS 310-456-3010
ANY RIDERS THAT WHERE ON THE "PASSION OF THE BIKE" RIDE PLEASE COMMENT ON HOW IT FELT TO YOU TO BE DISCRIMINATED AGAINST AND NOT LET INTO MOONSHADOWS BE CAUSE YOU RODE UP ON A BIKE AND DID NOT DRESS "RICH" OR DID NOT FIT THE "PROFILE" OF AN UPSCALE CUSTOMER. AM I ALONE IN FEELING THAT WHAT MOONSHADOWS DID TO US WAS WRONG?
I'm not sure why you guys wanted to go there. I think Moonshadows is a yuppie snobby shithole. I remember taking a girl on a date there and feeling so damn uncomfortable at all these snobby rich fucks with their high and mighty attitude.
Technically, I think that restaurants have a right to refuse service to anyone, or sometimes if they are dressed "inappropriately". I've been turned away from restaurants for wearing blue jeans. But its the middle of the fucking summer. I bet there's tons of messily dressed people who go there.
Anyway, fuck that place. I don't think it's worth getting steamed over it, sugar tits
IF THEY HAD A DRESS CODE, OK I CAN UNDERSTAND THAT, BUT THEY DO NOT. EVEN USER1 CALLED WHEN WE WERE THERE AND ASKED IF HE CAME DOWN WITH A BUNCH OF FRIENDS, COULD THEY GET IN? THEY SAID IT WOULD BE GREAT, NO PROBLEM. HE EVEN ASKED IF THEY HAD A DRESS CODE AND THEY SAID "NO".
MY GIRL REALLY THINKS IT WAS BECAUSE SHE IS BLACK. SHE SAW THAT THEY WERE GOING TO LET ME IN BEFORE SHE WALKED UP, THEN THEY SAW HER AND SAID THAT "TONIGHT IS A PRIVATE PARTY AND THAT YOU HAVE TO BE ON THE LIST"
IF I DO NOT AT LEAST TRY TO FIGHT AGAINST DISCRIMINATION (WETHER IT BE FOR RACE, RELIGION OR BICYCLE AFFILIATION) MY CONSCIOUS WOULD NOT LET FORGET IT.
Wow, it makes me really sad to know that our cycling culture has the sort of reputation that we would be refused entry to a restaurant based on our affiliation with midnight ridazz. I'm going to call this guy when I get off work and let him know how insulted I really am. Gladstones for real.
i wasn't there. i have never been to moonshadows. but. if the owner of a restaurant does not want that 'circus-like atmosphere' (or whatever he called it) in his restaurant, that is certainly his right. 'no dress code' doesn't mean come in blue war paint or whatever it is you guys were wearing. calling it discrimination is an insult to the legitimate claims that different races, or religions, or sexual choices face every day. ot may not be the popular opinion at MR, but i am on the side of this business. it is their business what they do with their door policy, not yours.
I guess Midnight Ridazz money isn't worth as much as these rich fucks money. Last time we were there we brought the party and spent hundreds on booze. Fuck 'em.
Not everyone was wearing the war paint. It's very poor taste and probably illegal to have someone at the entrance of an establishment and judging weather you're worthy of entering their establishment or not. I pretended to be coming from LA with a group to visit them when I called them up. I asked them specifically if there's a dress code or if the place is packed, a big waiting line etc, etc. They assured me that we would have no problem with getting in and that there was no waiting line to get in. I called them back after me myself and a friend that wasn't dressed up could not get in. To me that's BS, especially when there's some washed up biker fuck on the other side of this line that we could not cross.
BTW, I called three times to make sure there was no dress policy and twice I explained that I was being stopped. Finally some asshole dude got on the phone, I was dealing with females on the phone, anyways, the dude said the hostesses don't really know what is going on here. We have a private party and we do not have our standard policy in place tonite. I can read through the BS and told him so.
I would not claim it was discrimination, if it was not. My girlfriend brought her feelings and what she witnessed to my attention, ( I walked up first and was in process of entering when she walked up and was denied entrance based on a "supposed" private party)
and just so that you know, business owners CANNOT do whatever they would like if they are open to the general public,
