I am, but not by choice. My car was stolen on Saturday, so I'm getting around exclusively on two wheels or by public transportation.

a piece of advice for bus riders....buy one of those small hand sanitizers....i've personally seen "dirt bums" riding the buses and holding onto the railings all over the place. they shit their pants and sit on the seats, i see nose pickers, people spitting finger nails on the seat next to them, just the worst shit happens on a bus.
i always stand at the front of the bus near the door.

Jeff,
What kind of car was it. I'll man the watchtower on top of St. Joseph's and keep an eye out for it. Fucking Cunts!!
I got my car back once but only because some nice mexican found the driver's license in the car and got our number and called!!

POST the LICENSE PLATE incase some one sees it. Yellow should be easy to spot. Mine was found not far from where it was stolen.

i once had my car stolen. it was a 74 ford pick-up. because it had little value, i assumed it was taken for a joy ride. after reporting it to the police, i went looking around my neighborhood. i found it less than half an hour later, about 5 blocks away. my best friend's stolen car was also found within a mile of where he lives. your car sounds more valuable, but it might be worth a look nearby. were you insured?

I know this happened to mook when he lived in NY. His van was stolen, and a little while later, he was walking to the train and found his van and stole it back.

My van was stolen when I lived in NYC. It was missing for two weeks when "I" finally found it three blocks away from my building. The train I took into Manhattan was down, so I had to walk a bit further the other direction to the other train. My van was sitting in a parking lot.

thanks guise. I hope it was just taken for a joyride. the brakes were shot, and there was only 1/4 tank of gas. the only things in fair condition were the tires.

My dad had his car stolen with four cases of pretty important records (music, not documents) in the trunk and found it down the street with everything still inside.
I hope you get your car back soon.

"It was the most expensive thing I owned."
Sadly this is the case with most people. If you don't own a house chances are a car is the most expensive thing you own and maintain.
Hope you get a fat insurance check, man.

Last car I owned was an '87 Bronc-HO II.
I loved that thing and would've kept it had the problems been simple.
But, due to too many mechanical difficulties, I sort of lost interest and have just been renting a car anytime I need one.
I was nearly suckered into buying a $550/mo, '05 Escape, but I played the job-loss card with them.

Grasshopper - Master, am I car free if I own a motorcycle? Am I car free if I own a truck? Am I car free if my gf takes me everywhere?
Master - Oh my young Grasshopper you ask silly questions. Are the swallows speedy in flight, day or night? Do the seasons not follow one another as if they were dancing in a circle? Some day you will be able to leave this monastery and have your own TV show in America. All in good time clueless Grasshopper. All in good time.

I have been job free 10 months, so by chioce, I bike almost everywhere I need to go. My wife drives the one car we own, but she has a job.
It is a wonderful feeling of freedom to be able to get up to the city, Hollywood, etc. without a car.
Sometimes I ride the whole 27 miles to L.A., and sometimes I use a combination of Metro, buses and of course my bike.
This will not change once I gain employment. I'll be riding to work!

We have 2 old clunkers that are very happy that we ride our bikes most days. They get plenty of rest. And only get fired up 1 or 2 days a week. On the other hand, it is super fun to drive the "baby dinosaur" the gas guzzling beast that is my van. I just wish she could run on veggie oil.
