and back to the hospital.
damn rbi 24! holly shit. think the lowest my glucose was 34? wow that was a scary day.

24 is like close to death isn't it? Every time I'm low it's just about always when I'm sleeping in the middle of the night. I would instantly wake up and have the hebegeebees. I know exactly what it is. I have these tablets I take to bring my sugars up. I start getting the hebegeebees around 60. BTW for those reading, normal for diabetics is around 100.

My dad once once in the 30s, but managed to come out of it by squeezing a shitton of honey into his mouth. I was surprised he was still standing, let alone cognizant.

dude... what are these magic glucose tablets you speak of, and how come my apartment isn't full of them already???
canadienne08.25.08 - 3:35 pm

whatever man... the 2 times you've needed them, you were so out of it, if i stuffed chalk in your mouth you wouldn't have even noticed.
canadienne08.25.08 - 3:38 pm

but carrying around a few tablets is a lot easier than carrying juice boxes, or honey packets, or something... you know, just for emergencies. whatever, you'll never know. MUAHAHAHA!

I have never been hospitalized for low sugar. (26 years on insulin) Did you spike up afterwards? What caused the low sugar rebound? your head must feel awful after all of that. I think I just don't have the low sugar symptoms like you do any more. With a blood sugar of 34 I just feel tired and cranky.
RBI - the glucose tablets at Walmart are pretty good. They have a fruit punch flavor that my son used to beg me for. You can put them in your mouth and they will dissolve. The gel packs are nasty - I have never found a brand of those that I like.

Those tablets aren't that bad. Drink some water after you've chewed them down, and you're good to go.
BTW, for anyone reading this. You should never give a diabetic that may be incoherent something to chew on. They could chock on it. In this case it would be better some orange juice or something similar.
