Thanks to Stevo, i'm home and in great...um good.. um not so bad condition. 2 sprained ankles (1 severe) a Fractured finger and abrasions all around left hand and fingers. Road rash on back. Pics to come soon of course!
the story.
Luckily it was a cold night and i layered up. Traveling extremely fast on the 405 and bike troubles don't go well together. The front wheel violently wobbled back and forth until i could no longer hold onto the bars and had to bail (all in about 1.5 seconds) . As i flew through the air, i saw my poor baby slam the ground and start spinning showering the freeway with sparks. Then my body hit and i am pretty sure for a split second i was skidding just on the side of my face...and that's when i decided that trying to roll would be a good idea. it didn't really work. It took a reallllly long time to stop moving. Then i bolted up and scrambled to the median. The cars behind me had to swerve from hitting the bike but did not cause any other accidents, thank god. The road ate through my gloves and pants. I bled all over myself from my fingers. Touching them caused more to gush out. And that's when my vision started fading looking like snow on an empty tv channel. Totally unreal. The paramedic treating me found half of my phone WITH the sim card WIZZAO!! The new phone i happened to have ordered just a few days ago should be here soon.
In the ER they cut all my clothes off and the worst part (which can be the best for some (FLUFFFERS)) was the prostate check. But it's ok. The Doc said i have "GOOD TONE", whatever the hell that means.
I have no idea in what shape the bike is in..but i do know this will be an ugly bill.

I've badly sprained both ankles before too, be careful, they might feel better in a couple days, but they will be far from healed.
I made that mistake when i was 12, and have suffered from it since. You can do permanent damage to tendons (which is what a sprain is, tendon damage) if you want, next time i see you i'll show you some of the exercises i learned when I had to do PT to rebuild one of my ankles after I tore the fuck out of it for the eighth time.

Also as mentioned in the other thread, it is important for someone to take up the cause of finding a way to get Richie back on the rides asap, i.e. pedicab. Marcus, Alex, Bikerowave... team up and do it, now.

The problem with an xtra cycle is that in the event of a minor tip or dump you gotta use your ankles. A trailer or pedicab would be ideal. It's gonna be tough hauling his fatass through a cubcamp . . .
What about a mini bike attached to the back of someones bike.... we could even put training wheels and some kinda comfy foot resting pedals so there isn't any strain on ank to the l e(s) -- the pedals would just be for decoration, that's it and that's all. ;)
There's something like mixte suggests at BRW. I think it would work better than a tandem. I'm still kind of worried it would be asking a lot of his ankles when they're stopping. Someone can check it out at BRW tonight.
Maybe we could weld an awesome chair type seat on there. I know Richie wrote that is prostate checked out but after riding the kiddie seat on this thang for a while I don't think he would check out anymore.
I have foot pads on my xtracylcle.
He wouldn't have to put his feed down at stops, just like a... h'em ....motorcycle. I live in SD, but would offer the pads up to anyone with an X that needs them. Or I could just quit my job and move up to LA and haul his ass around all day.

I forgot - we put handle bars on the back of Artemisia's Ultracycle at BRW by running a threadless stem off her seatpost. That would make the Xtracycle idea doable.
B: I cannot allow richie to sit on the back of an extra cycle like that. He needs to heal as quickly and efficiently as possible and I won't allow him to be in a position to strain his ankles anymore.
You need a better solution, find a goddamn pedicab. Maybe the Cicle ladies know where to find one, wasn't there a pedicab operation downtown that went bust. What about the guy in the marina who I see once every quarter. Have Paul and the new guy at BRW weld one anything, as long as its safe.

you guys would be amazed how good he looks, i didnt even think it was him when i got home. i was expecting a bloody bruised lump! apparently 100mph motorcycle wrecks dont really affect Cubzz all that much...
he tried to stay awake and give me "the scoop", but luckily he is horse-tranquilized : the only way to slow him down. seriously, he is getting the rest and care he needs, rest assured.
Although he is def looking good, he is hurting somewhat... as stated above, 2 badly sprained ankles and a broken and raw lookin fingers.
We all know how much he loves his friends and family SO expect a full-love-down when he gets vertical. So many people sent their best to him, so quickly too. Its a reflection of how much he means to everyone.
Man, I'm serious, is there some kind of accident bug going around this year?
