Farmlab was down ... but it didn't work out.
The 3rd Annual All City Toy Ride is one month from today and we really need a space.
Here is the info:
1000+ Ridazz will ride from all parts of the county and converge on Olvera St. in DTLA we will come bearing toys that will be donated to the
Alliance for Children's Rights
3rd Annual All City Toy Ride - Friday December 12, 2008
All rides meet at Olver St. Gazebo to 10pm after-party to follow.
We will then have an after-party with Music, free or low donation beer, and tamales.
We need a place to:
- Accommodate a lot of people (600+ many people will leave after dropping off toys)
- Let us go late - we will reach the place around 10:30 or 11 and would love to party ti'll at least 1 or 2
- Be OK with beer.
- Be OK with loud music
- Be OK with our tiny/ non-budget
- Be located within a few miles of DTLA or less (some ppl have ridden over 25 miles and will need to ride home too)
What we offer:
- Awesome charity
- Great People/ great community, we will respect the space
- We have an excellent track record with references
- We will clean up the night of and return the next day if necessary
If the space is affiliated with an official non-profit that is even better, I can explain later if that is an issue.
-------------------------------------------------
If you have any leads on possible spaces please flesh them out.
We can help answer questions here if you have them, and I can help seal the deal if necessary, but I can not follow every lead I just don't have time, i need my fellow ridazz to help with the foot work.
-------------------------------------------------
Some other notes:
We have a tamale vendor
We have a likely beer sponsor
We have a sound system and some DJs (myself and MAMBB) with room for more.
Finally ... I am not in charge of this, this is a Ridazz community project ... I'm just trying to keep the ball rolling because I LOVE this ride! All help and guidance is welcome. This event will be as democratic as our limited means will allow.
NOW PLEASE HELP US FIND A SPACE!

We could do a free public space if it came down to it but ...
That would mean: No free beer, no tamales, and a bike trailer sound system. not exactly an unfun time ... unless we get booted by the cops , but we are angling for something bigger if possible.

Some place with power, some lighting, and where we won't get kicked out of. And possibly indoors if the weather is bad.

the thing is that we are going to have a keg, live music(dj) and stuff like that. we can do that type of stuff in a parking lot.

What about that place that's on Santa Fe on the south side of the 10? I don't remember what the place is called, but Banksy had his show close to there. Anyone know where I'm talking about? We've had bicycle stuff there in '05 I believe. It was during the first bikesummer.

I got mine out early enough that it wasn't much of a problem. But I know friends who had them out in their 20s and 30s and they weren't so happy.

I think we work better when we're outdoors. That's what really was nice about Farmlab. That place was MEANT for us! We need a place that would be mostly outdoors. Hell I saw a parking lot under the 10 would be awesome. Especially if we would have power, toilets and a fire pit.

My apologies to the hijackers above, but you may also try to approach The Center For Land Use Interpretation, http://www.clui.org/clui_4_1/
I know kriztonian stepped up on a possibility, but let's keep our options open yeah?

Farmlab would have been perfect.
But they max out at 300 people. They love us and would love to do something with us, but can do more than 300 folks ... and we just need to be able to accommodate more.
I agree with USER1 something with an outdoor option is key.
Covered outdoor with no neighbors would be super ideal.
But we'll take what we can get.
