No no this is not a cruel Eddie joke!!! LoL
Who has a good eye at spotting defects of bicycles by a picture? The defect in question is damage to a frame and/or forks. See if you can spot the damage from the pics that this guy has posted on cl. Spot the damage let us know what it is.
This test only applies to anyone that will buy a used bike in the future.
For clarification, I'm not referring to paint chips or even dents. This is structural damage that no one should ever ride with.
Ready??
Go!!!

Ok, this is feaky. I was just looking at that guy's bikes just 5 minutes ago.

Nope that's not it. That Gary Fisher bike has the decal coming off that gives it the appearance of a crack in the chainstay. That's what it looks like to me.

Someone doesn't like to play. You can find his ads just by searching for "351" in the LA bike section.

I wouldn't mind having one or two of those 62cm frames for beater road bikes or fixed 'cross bikes. But his packages as a whole are mostly ugly as sin.
Is this guy's stuff as bad as the used camera store guy's down in OC?

YEAP!! That's it!
The blue Raleigh.
If anyone is ever looking at a used bike, they need to take a close look at the forks to see if its ever been in an accident. These damaged forks throw off the ride of bike and make it rather unpleasant to ride. Not only that, would trust this forks after an accident?

i rode some forks like that for a few months after a bad bmx crash until i snapped the frame in half and sheared off the forks at the crown. i cant find the pictures of my face i took right after the accident so i could sue the manufacturer (it was barely six months old) but heres one of my teeth after one of the caps broke while i was eating some delicious tims jalapeno chips.

wait, you crashed a bike and then rode around on damaged forks, and you wanted to sue the manufacturer because you hurt yourself?

haha, yeah. i didnt tell my parents that i bent my forks from overclearing a set of doubles at the bmx track, and i snapped the frame in two places (fork crown and where the downtube and top tube meet the steer tube) after manualing off a curb. the manufacturer coughed up a few thousand dollars to fix my face and for pain and suffering. this was my life during the summer of 1996.

Oh that Mutha Fucker.
Yes this guy deserve F-bombs dropped all over him. I really don't like this character. He is really well know and hated by those who look at the ads of craigslist regularly. From watching the way this guy operates. He has taken bikes that you once could get for $60-$100 and caused the price to go to $260-$450, $350 being the average. I noticed because he raised the price of these bikes that he would buy at cheaper price, all of the bikes of the same class started to fetch the same amount.
At the end of this summer, I noticed a glut of fixies being sold with stories of "I need the money for school" in the ads. I also noticed at the end of summer that the price of bikes that i think this character artificially raised have started to come down to a reasonable price. I don't know if it is that 'summer' has ended, the economy or what have you, but the price of bikes have come down on craigslist and they don't move as quickly as before. I do think the price of used bikes peak this summer and has came down in LA.
At first just the fact that he would over post got to be really annoying.
I know because of that people would try to flag his ads. Then people got really ticked off when he purchase a bike that was $100 and try to resell it for $350 the same day. It really pissed people off. There was actually ads posted encouraging people to flag the SGV guy. I put an ad up encouraging people to flag him also and got horror story emails from people about how they bought a bike from him and realized later they got ripped off. They also wrote of what a prick the guy was. I got this one hate email from a guy who called me a communist, (that was a funny email.) I actually spent a week trying to flag his ads off (i know that it is pathetic). This dude just really got under my skin with what he was selling these bikes to kids who didn't know better. I found some web site that would flag it for you around 150x in a minute. That didn't really do the trick. He has had to figure out a way to make his ad's flag-proof. (I have seen ads for programs or tips that can tell you how to keep from keeping people from flagging you off.) Eventually I stopped trying to flag him because it was taking lots of effort to get his ads off.
I have talk to other people on the streets who know about him and feel the same way.
