I did that ride last year on New Year's it's an annual thing all the OG roadies do, starting in Northridge. Going down the windchill factor froze my toes til i got home! It was so cold, there was snow on the ground in the shade. I was in spandex with nothing more than a members only jacket. But yeah lets see some brave souls actually do this thing for real!

"wai not?"
There was 6 to 12" of snow the whole way so did more walking than riding, even downhill. Powder is no fun on a bike. Nice crusty stuff that you don't break through is fun as hell, though.

Snowing in the desert right now!!!
But, I'm down in the Montebello-area working, so all I get to deal with are fucktards that are too incompetent to drive in rain!!

Dude, my brother is staying with me tonight because he can't get home. They say they're not going to open the 14 tonight, and who knows when the 15 will be reopened. I talked to my sis-in-law and they have 12" of snow at their place.

I swear, CALTRANs and CHP start shitting bricks when snow even hits the ground.
When I was SWIFT, I remember taking the 15 from Montana all the way down into Utah.
Snow was packed all over the Montana-portion and we were all driving at normal speed!!!
FUCK CHAIN ADVISORIES!!!

People don't know what to do in snow here, though. My brother watched two people hit their brakes coming south down the top of the 15 this morning and they went right off the freeway.

caltrans and the chp shit bricks when any precipitation hits the ground BECAUSE PEOPLE IN CALIFORNIA DONT KNOW HOW TO DRIVE.

15 closed "Until Further Notice".
Which probably translates to, "Due to budget-cuts and lay-offs, snow-plow crews will be unavailable for the time-being."
I say just open up the roads and let the "me-first" crowd get consumed by Darwin.
Yeah, it's probably viewed as wrong-to-think-that-way by others, but as someone potentially going into LE or EMS work, car accidents involving other cars tends to be old news after awhile.
