 I've only recently gotten to know GERN but his name has come up several times over the last year to me about how much he has QUIETLY done for the bicycle movement in LA.

IT's thanks to him that we have the 'loud' speaker on the trailer!!

Well deserved, Gern of the year!!

 Man, I don't even know how to tell y'all how much Gern helped Bikerowave. I'll try:

- We basically operated using his tools for a long time, and we still do use them. He hasn't asked for any of them back.

- We have a floor worth approximately $30K which Gern secured as a donation. Free.

- Almost every physical modification of the Bikerowave space, and there are a lot, is something Gern had a hand in.

- He trucked stuff around for us all over the place.

- He handles orders for Bikerowave.

- He's fun as hell.

If you want to try to quantify it then let me put it this way . . . if Gern weren't around at all, it Bikerowave would be 4 months behind where it is now. Maybe worse.

Gern - he's been in it to win it, from the beginning. Well, you win Gern, Volunteer of the Year 2007.

 GERN has helped me so many times that I can't begin to remember what to thank him for.

He takes a thousand photos per ride, yet never uploads them. EVER. He's either a narc or bicyclings Henry Chalfant.

 I concur. I am glad I met Gern a while back. Big Bike Dan and Gern were one of the first buddies I started associating with. SMCM was always the time to catch Gern. I wish he were around more. He always offers help and guidence whenever needed. There needs to be a celebration at the Bikerowave(I have not watched the vid yet. I am hoping I did not miss it).
