I'm a graphic designer with my BFA from Michigan State who is now a kitchen designer for Home Depot. It blows working for a "big box" company, but it's a cool gig. Need to get into a smaller company though, more money and freedoms there. Either that or back into graphics which is why I moved out here.

I just went by to check it out.
It's a giant warehouse.
Fence is down, doors are open. Easy to get in.
Of course that means others have already been there.
All the walls inside/out are covered with graffiti.
I saw four hobos in there. They seemed quite enegetic.
Two of them were stripping the pipes off for the scrap metal.
They were not aggressive or territorial.
There were paddles on the floor from the recent rain.
It's worth a look but it's definitely more edgy/urban than romantic.

Also nice is the 6 weeks paid vacation, per mandated by Denmark law.
But the best part is that I found something using my skills/training (journalism) in a field that's very interesting, on the up and up, and does well while doing well. Clean energy has become big business and wind is the most efficient, most successful of them all. It's a very exciting time to be in this field.

Free is the best flavor, the best word, the best idea. I get nothing for free at work. no water cooler, no coffee, nothing. I file half the day, and other half I spend on Midnight Ridazz.com. Well, I sorta have free time. I guess that's something for free. But, I'm still confined to the office, which is a giant converted warehouse with endless rows of cubicles. It's like the Matrix where Neo works. Just identical, cookie cutter cubicles filled with boring, mindless automatons. I am glad that I'm employed and compensated well with good benefits. Like anything in life, it's what you make of it, and how you choose to look at things. God, I'm bored, even with my iPod playing nine hours a day. I can't wait for the weekend. Is it 4:20 yet? I finish work at 4:30.

i work as a recruiter for Activision, recruiting for two of the studios they own, Treyarch and Luxoflux. We're working on 3 titles right now, James Bond's Quantum of Solace (movie in November), Spiderman 3: Web of Shadows and Call of Duty 5. It's a cool gig because it's helping people find work and the environment is relaxed.

I work from home most days but it sucks just as bad. My peers are back East so the day starts early. Can't really leave the house since I'm in meetings all day. On the upside, I can cook my own meals, work in my pajamas, and watch Jerry Springer.

Ahhh yes, this thread...
My job hasn't changed since this started, well a bit, when this thread started I was an unemployed grad student, now I'm just plain unemployed.
I've been looking for work (pretty much anything where i won't go insane) for like 3 months or so now, maybe more, to no avail... probably doesn't help that I have a master's degree in art, which is tantamount to a masters in baloney...
Horray for having 30 dollars to your name and no foreseeable income in the future!

I work as a consultant for an environmental non-profit (Conservation International). I spend most of the day working on computer models to predict the effects of climate change on biodiversity. So I guess that makes me some kind of scientist. Since most of the people I work with are in Santa Barbara, I'll usually spend a couple days each week up there. It would be a sucky commute if I was driving, but fortunately, I can just ride down to Union Station, throw my bike on the train and go. Suckas on the freeway got no idea, I tell ya. When I'm in LA, I work from home, which I have become convinced is a great way to slowly drive yourself nuts. But I still prefer that to living in Santa Barbara. That place is pretty, but (to me, at least) it's unbelievably boring.
For the summer, I'm technically working for UCSB (health insurance = yes!), but doing pretty much the same thing as ever. In a previous life, I worked (indirectly) for NASA. It wasn't really for me, but my signature is now on Mars, my illegible scrawl immortalized in some microscopic etching alongside a thousand others. That's gotta be worth something.
