THE TEN CRANKMOBMENTS
1. HAVE FUN - That's is why we're here! Let's make sure that we can keep having fun by
paying attention to
the rest of these points.
2. BE SAFE - We don't want anyone to get hurt, that includes you. If you or your bike are in
no condition to
ride, don't ride.
3. BE RESPECTFUL - Respect the people around you and be aware of what you're doing.
Respect yourself
and don't get hurt. Respect the places we go to so that we can come back next month.
4. BE RESPONSIBLE - Your actions have consequences. They also reflect on the entire
group so please be
smart. If you spot anyone being unsafe or disrespectful, call them out on it.
5. COMMUNICATE - Call out hazards in the road. Call out the next turn. Call out if you're
slowing, stopping or
starting to go. Call out everything.
6. PASS IT ON - If you hear someone calling something out, repeat it to make sure everyone
hears.
7. LEAVE NO TRACE - Clean up your litter. Let's leave this place like we were never here.
8. HOLD YOUR LINE - Watch where you're going and don't weave recklessly through the
crowd. If you need
to stop, slowly make your way to the right side of the road where stopping is safe.
9. STAY RIGHT - Leave the left lane open for passing cars. Please don't ride into oncoming
traffic.
10. SLOW DOWN - The party is right here, not up there somewhere. Stay with us and follow
the ride leaders.
They know where we're going.
11. HAVE F.U.N. - Cuz it's worth saying twice!

We MAKE IT HAPPEN on this ride.
So Bring It.
except the bit with the hummer obviously, although one might make a nice SAG vehicle if appropriately decorated by some of the artists who decorated TEH BOXX
HMM, THAT SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD IDEA RICHIE, MAYBE SOME KIND OF THINGA MA GIG THAT ANCHORS TO THE BACK END OF SAID SHOPPING CART, THEN ANOTHER TO ANCHOR TO THE FRONT END, TO THE BIKE. INTERESTING. INDEED.
Richie I think it's the right thing to do to get people thinking about this stuff more... Let's make a spectacle out of it with a crazy shopping cart bike! I want to help with the construction, which means I need to learn how to weld properly.
i don't know how to weld, but if there's anything I can do to help, please let me know. I dont want to make a bike that ends up hurting someone, much less myself.
Actually i've made a shopping cart bicycle before WITH NO WELDING!!!!
All you need to use the handle of the shopping cart as the handle of your bike!
1. Remove your bike's handlebar
2. Remove plastic from shopping cart bar.
3. Attach your headstem and brakes to shopping cart bar, and re-install on shopping cart.
4. Your front wheel is alread off, so put your dropouts on the bar across the bottom of the cart and adjust the hieght of your stem accordingly! VOILA!
This all depends on your bike and the shopping cart itself. but that's the jist of it!
'
or we should bring trash bags fill them up and leave them there next to a trash can. im sure some one would find them and be happy. maybe put a crank mob flyer on them. then riding away if we see any one who looks in need just point them that direction
It's been a little while since I've done a bike ride on skates, but I did friday night skate again recently, and me and Dan of FNS might show on skates this week. My main worry is social rides in general have been getting faster lately and I'm a pretty strong skater, but keeping pace on longer rides requires quite a deal more effort then on a bike. I love skating to Crank Mob music in the middle of the street though.
Friday night skate is fun, it's a small group, but it does get a little bigger in the summer. In Europe in-line skating didn't fade like it did in America, it only grew stronger. I've heard some of the skates in some places like Germany and France are bigger then the biggest MR or critical mass ride here.
i have a brand new set of rollerblades that i bought maybe 5 years ago. i have never gone anywhere in them because i don't know anyone that wants to skate - and that is a beginner like me. i mean, i know how to go and keep going...it's the stopping that scares the shit out of me.
@tomato - Meghan is going to get some skates soon and I was going to help teach her better skating form and stopping. If you really do want to learn maybe you could join us sometime. I also recommend going to the skating rink sometime, the perfectly smooth surface allows you to build skill and confidence before dealing with the tore up streets and sidewalks of Los Angeles. Pristine parking lots are also good for that.
whatever happened to that crank mob video with the gnarls barkley track in the background? they sang happy birthday in the beginning...the song was called run. Anyone know?
I want to find a way to make some money so i can by my dream bike! Do you guys think if i make like 800 jello shots i could sell them for like 2 for a buck? I already paid 3,000 buck over the course of a year but now im more despereate to Have it because i want to start racing! is this a good idea? I could bring them to the ride!
@BeckyBikes
you dont have to ride alone. The MOM Ridazz will be going the same way if you would like to join the ride. We start from hollywood and western @ the redline metro station..
Is anyone riding from the east side (silverlake/downtown) to the mob?
I'm flying solo to this one so if anyone would like to join me holler.

Fantastical fabulous F.U.N. ALL NIGHT LONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks to everyone's amazingness for making C.R.A.N.K. MOB the FUNNEST F.U.N. it could be! And clean too!
The route was totally off the hook, every month is a different experience if you put aside the drunken and/or inexperienced ingrates.
On a side note though, my mirror was broken again at the get-together near Pico/21st in Santa Monica.
I'm not going to point fingers and be angry, but please, just be careful when riding through a row of parked bikes.
Crank Mob was hella fun for my first time. I came home and wrote in my diary alllll about that night. 8D Actually, no, I just went to sleep. I ate shit so awesomely I did two barrel rolls, lol. Flew off my bike and rolled right onto the sidewalk. Good times.
Yeah it was nice to have finally meet you too. I tried to find you in all the mayhem but couldn't. Trust me, the Red Stripe didn't go to waste ;-)
@ CRANK mob, please buy cans next time. Had fun, and was a great ride. Hope the peeps that went down are ok. Looking forward to a CRANK mob SUMMER!!! 8)~
I say "Crankmob," you say "What's that?" 14.7 mi to Sawtelle and La Grange ... Fighting traffic 32 oz. Rockstar (Crankmob in a can).. 3.99 plus CRV 14.7 mi back ...Legs of J-E-L-L-O. Crankmob til the cops come ... Priceless Crank Mob is the sound of 2,000 tires on the pavement, the drone of the peloton, the cute girl who just smiled at you, that guy who endo'ed and had to be carried away, the kid whose bike you helped put back together, the drumbeats of ten boomboxes, a 30" diameter soccerball stuck in a tree, a bright blue afro wig, double dutch, the kid who helped put YOUR bike back together, Price check on Crankmob aisle 13, Pogo's and Donuts, and running lights like we own the streets ('cuz, face it, there are 1,000 of us, we DO own the streets). Crank!!! ::::::Mob:::::::: :::::::Mob:::::::
All i can say is that i am SO SO SO APPRECIATIVE of all those who step up, bring the FUN, and make this ride what it is! With over 600 people this month and no way to amplify announcements, i'm thoroughly impressed with how we stuck together and pulled off the biggest mobile party on wheels this month!!
SAFE MOB!!!!!!! WOOOT WOOOOOT!!!!
TRASH MOB - you are all HEROES. It's just beautiful!
Music Trailer Peoples - THANK YOU!!! The Tunes keep us movin!!!
JUMP ROPE! BEACH BALLS! GIANT SOCCER BALLZ!!
YES YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!
AIN'T NO PARTY LIKE A C.R.A.N.K. MOB PARTY
CUZ A C.R.A.N.K. MOB PARTY DON'T STOP!!!!
can i please obtain a spokecard? i was so stoked to have ridden from K-TOWN to C-MOB coz i haddened done it in months and i was so naturally high and stoked that i spaced out and forgot to search for the spoke card person (coa coa butta) for historically important and commemorative awesome spokecard. not that im a super awesome spoke card collecter and or historian or archive keeper but i will one day make a giant scrap book of pics and spoke cards. i really care alot about owning actual spokecards for actual rides i actually attended. and that's my policy. if can get a card for a ride i didn't go to i will take it but i find more pride in owning a card for a ride i went to and a larger and huger disappointment and heartbreak in not getting a spoke card to a ride i actually attended. can i please get one set aside for me from either of you twos? if you don't have a laminated one i'll take the time and trouble of doing that...
one day that giant scrap book will be on my grandkids' laps and they'll be on my lap and i will start telling the story of how los angeles became the greatest biketopian society in the world, in the history of the earth and civilization. larger than amsterdam, larger thean portland, etc.
think about it... that spoke card has to be there to complete the story.
