The time and date will be posted soon in this thread, likely to be next week, the last week of November. No given route, just begin and end points. Winnings to be determined, but may or may not include but can and can not not be unlimited to...a free $10 Sharecut and/or free beer and/or the naming rights to any and all LA bike rides and/or gas coupons and/or nothing to do with anything. Fixed Gear race only. NO fun without a permit. Team Sharecuts to donate prizes.

If the route is Tangs to San Pedro, wouldn't PC have an unfair advantage since it is his/her regular route. Why not start somewhere neutral? Do the race in the IE or OC assuming 'i' is not from there.. Or lets drive them to an undisclosed start point to end up at Tangs.

I was thinking more like Magic Mountain to Tangs, Santa Fe Dam to Tangs, Thousand Oaks to Tangs.

i want to race but this isn't a big deal. i prefer more riders than PC and myself. though obviously we both have our side bet on.

i want to keep it local or in the middle because i ride my bike to races. i live in k-town. i don't feel like getting in a car for an urban race, it defeats the point for me.

I thought it was equally unfair to have the Tangs to San Pedro, because "I" reps Wolfpack and "PC" reps San Pedro. Connecting the two made sense to me. I understand the point though, so lets leave it up to "PC" and "I"...

I'm not even sure who 'i' is. I've asked other WP riders and no one seems to know who he/she is? I guess that is part of the intrigue, we know who PC is and 'i' is still a mystery. I had guesses but they all were wrong. Guess just have to wait and see.

If Eye is a real Wolfpack rider, he knows the area around Tang's better than I do. Obviously, I know San Pedro better than he does. Equal unfairness!

To make it a little more equally unfair, here's the best way to get to Pt. Fermin Park from downtown San Pedro. Going straight down Gaffey looks quicker, but trust me: the hills will kill you. Go down Pacific and make a right on Shepard.

As for getting to San Pedro: it's ridiculously easy. If I can figure out how to ride to Silverlake from here, he can figure it out in reverse.

That's what I'm saying. Marcus's evil genius idea is just fine. Eye can get to Tang's from K-town on his bike, and I can get there on the bus.

After the race, Eye and anybody else who wants to is welcome to crash down here. I'm going to stock the place with beers, so you'll want to hang out down here for a while anyway.

the funny thing is no one even bothered to ask who i was. its pretty annoying to just write on here for the past few days and have people who actually know me like city hobgoblin call me a pussy because i dont have a photo of myself up like a lot of other people on this site i haven't been trying to keep my idnentity a secret but at the sametime i don't know who half the users are on this website anyways because of all the usernames.

i also challenge city hobgoblin in this race for talking shit and SixtyLowRida, who i don't know.

i know many of you will recognize me since i've been riding with midnight ridazz for over 2 years, have been on wolfpack many times though i dont claim at all to represent them.

since there is intrigue now i suppsoe you'll all officilally re-meet me at the race.

i dotn know who PC is at all.

I think no one will interfere with your race. If you have concerns about outside help, be assured that the WP will not participate in anything that might be considered cheating. I think the WP would enjoy a good race. Get someone you mutually trust to referee if you want.

Like I've said before, many riders of the WP don't even know who 'i' really is. The challenge was borne out of the WP thread but the race is between you two.

Let the pre race hype begin. This will be a good race since the only way to have ringside seat will be to ride along. Pretty interesting to have the peloton/groups shadow two racers yet offer no assistance except for moral support.

If this race is still on, it sounds interesting enough to gate some observers to the sidelines.
This "i" character sounds like a person of interest.
Perhaps he is just another Prior trying to spread the word of Origin.

Hey can't at this point "i" be anyone? I mean look, if I was "i" I would be hustling to get the baddest rida out there!! I mean sure whoever I got is gona have to deal with 1001 questions about working the ridazz here up in a frenzy, but that would be minor and his stand in would just deflect each question with a "my bad!" I think it would be a good idea to have this "i" identify himself now. Just to keep things on the up and up.

Also while I had alot of time on my hands yesterday, I thought what would a real challenge for both, since doing the race from SP to LA or LA to SP would not be that fair for either, was to have the race at a neutral location. A road that both can scout out. What I was thinking was Angels Crest Hwy up to the top and back down. But here's the kicker that would test the senses. Ride it with no lights and during the new moon phase! This will happen the weekend of Dec 8 and 9. Pretty cleaver no?

How about having a route that start and ends at Tangs/LA? I am concerned about 2 things, unfair advantage and logistics.

I think that PC will have an advantage since he probably knows every shortcut and pothole from LA to San Pedro. He probably is very familiar with the elevation profile of the last leg into Pt. Fermin. I do not know who 'i' is but I suspect he is of similar fitness. This being said, familiarity of the terrain will be a big advantage.

The logistics concern is once we get to Pt Fermin, can we get back to Tangs early enough for us that need to be at work at 8 am the next day.

I propose that the start and end point be Tangs. Just choose a destination then ride there and back. The exceptions of course are San Pedro and surrounding areas. Established Wolfpack Hustle routes like Sta Monica, Encino, Pasadena and Commerce.

A suggestion would be Tangs to Dodger Stadium through the backside of Elysian park( by the reservoir). Down Riverside drive to the bike path. Back in to the backside of Griffith Park, into the observatory and back to Tangs. If that too short, do a couple more loops.

Sure PC knows san pedro, but "i" knows LA. so whats the difference. Tang's to Tang's is too biased towards WP riders IF "i" is a regular on WP that is.

Aside from knowing the terrain, there is a psychological advantage. If I were to race someone of equal fitness to somewhere close to my home, I will have an advantage. Think of it as home court advantage, you can push it to the very limit since you can be in your own bed in the matter of minutes. "i" will still have to ride back to LA. Race from LA to the Fullerton or Orange Circle train station. That will put you equally away from 'home".

Also, do you ever wonder why our return route back to Tangs is almost always faster? It might take us close to 1 1/2 hours to get to Encino but 40 minutes back. Same with the route to the beach. As you get closer to home, the horse can smell the barn. All the pain disappear and all the familiar landmarks will make you stronger.

sc you have a point, though I would also add that when we do return routes there's no stop unlike the "there" route which will have a spin-up /warm-up time and a couple stops to re-group and make sure new riders are keeping up.... so I think that's the main reason the return route is faster. ps after 54 weeks of this there isnt really an area of LA that doesnt seem familiar or frankly within 40 mins of tang's.


I know PC. he's a fast, slick riding motherfucker. He might just win.... but then again like I said "i" can handle it!

That's up to you. I'm providing the spot. Team Sharecuts is providing sharecuts. BYOB, but I'll stock the fridge with some beers so that at least Eye and I will be able to crack a few when we arrive. There are plenty of liquor stores on Pacific Avenue as you come in to San Pedro. Anchor Liquor on 22nd and Pacific is always open until 2:00 AM.

Be aware that by the time most of you get there, the buses will have stopped running. (The Blue Line doesn't go here--this is San Pedro, not Long Beach.) Be prepared to ride back, or sleep on a floor.

Really, the ride/race is the event.

Don't worry they know you are going to do a little time theft hear and there. You don't even want to know what your fellow contractors are doing during work time. Your skills are valuable so they will have to over look it.
