what have you been listening to lately?
what have you purchased lately?
i picked up a copy of the FUNKY JUNCTION lp the other day on ebay. it should be here any day now.
FUNKY JUNCTION was thin lizzy + two randoms from some other irish rock band that were given a bunch of money to record a record of deep purple covers under a fake name. they never played live and the cover of the record isnt even a picture of them, nor do they mention the members names anywhere on the sleeve.
I bought Junior Wells - Hoodoo Man Blues on Saturday and haven't taken it out of the player since. I think its already crept its way up to my personal top favorite albums.
Robert Johnson
Tinariwen (one of the very few acts i wanted to catch at Coachella had i gone)
Old Man Gloom
Had been listening to a lot of Black Mountain until I saw them live at The Echo – disappointing

I never could get into Thin Lizzy. The few tunes I heard were way too commercial for my taste. Even their album covers sucked.
I hate "The Boys Are Back In Town", and nothing Tyler can say will change my opnion!
he is not old school at all.just another misoginistic,!@#$?phobic,dancehall artist. aint all that.
go listen to some barrington levy or toots and the mytals
no i wasnt wearing makeup, didnt even dress in black.sometimes i am astounded by your narrow mind.how many people know you dont really listen to nordic death music all the time?
here read what my favorite hater PC wrote about the cure concert on sunday:
my question is: what did you think of the Cure? --Robert Stanfield, a.k.a. "i"
What a set! I was planning to go check out some of Throbbing Gristle at 11:00 but I couldn't tear myself away from The Cure. A lot of old b-sides and shit, played very rockingly. Needless to say, that little moment at the end, after Goldenvoice cut off the PA and we could only hear the band through the stage monitors and you couldn't hear Robert Smith at all and the whole audience sang along to "Boys Don't Cry" as though to lend him the voice that Goldenvoice had denied him, was just fucking transcendent.
remember that ride where you were talking about death metal and i said that i didnt listen to that crap? no, of course not. however i know plenty of people who listen to nothing but that.
darkthrone - soulside journey
@RBI--i know and you know but most people think its hardcore shit all the time.as far as twin lead gutiar goes,i prefer iron maiden or the allman brothers
Since I have no internet at home to steal new music, I've been digging into all the mp3s I have sitting around that for some reason I never imported into iTunes. How the hell did I miss so much Susumu Yokota?
Pat Benetar, The Donnas, Joan Jett, Heart, Divinyls, Queen, Bon Jovi. No wonder my mom stopped listening to new music after medical school, what else could you need?
OMG, like who is this guy...he looks just like me!
by the by if you like Wolf (which is a little too electric for me) head a bit further back in time to Son House. He's actually sitting at the bar in the Wolf video.
drift / jonah - split 7"
racebannon / to dream of autumn - split 7"
reversal of man / enemy soil - split 7"
sinking body - discovery of iron ore 10"
acme - to reduce the choir to one soloist 12"
aftermath compilation 2x12" (damad, seein red, doom, etc)
education compilation 12" (devoid of faith, benchmark, floodgate, etc)
maximum rock and roll: public safety compilation 12" (framtid, regulations, career suicide, etc)
and a couple of random demo cds that arent that good.
Stumbled upon them in Austin...they were amazing. Big E had a whole Stevie Ray Vaughn thing going on....some goood live blues. oh man you can't beat live blues. Live blues cannot be beat. Long live live blues.
The pics from Throbbing Gristle in SF are posted. Btw, the blond hair chick is Genesis. All in all a great show, just would have been nice if they came out for one encore.
and btw, I am surprised and refreshed at all the blues fans on here!
I've always gotten strange looks while digging through the blues sections at record stores. Always old guys coming up to me starting conversations...intrigued by this young white girl digging through lightning hopkins and what-have-you. It's quite funny really. Always thought it was just me and the old farts who had mad love for the blues haha. Apparently, ridazz have good taste in music as well as good taste in transportation.
the boy nipsey.. wow haha but i used to see this guy and the nhc's "jerkin" way before the whole tight pants scene came about.. though they didnt call it jerkin' more like "rollin swaggin"
