MISSING DUCK!

I know this is nuts but I'm pretty freaked out and I figured it couldn't hurt to post this here..
My duck, Gary, is missing. This is not a joke. many of you have met him. He is white and brown and lives in the front yard of my house in Silverlake.
I saw him last night when I came home about 1am, but when my roommate went to feed him this morning, around 8am, he was gone.
if anyone was riding around and happened to see a duck on the streets of Silverlake, or someone carrying a duck, please let me know via this thread, or email me at pinkfixie at yahoo dot com

He could be out for a stroll to meet the ladies....if his wings aren't clopped. If this is the case....he is a migratory animal....and he knows how to find home. You are home.

I'm not trying to be hurtful. There is a good chance that the duck flew south for the winter. If this is what has happened, it is good, no? But, I feel bad that you have lost one of your loved ones.
Maybe some duck expert who is a rida should set me straight.
But, there are two scenarios, in my mind.
Either the duck got loose and needs to be found, or the duck migrated. I don't know too much about this stuff. maybe someone could help me here....
I just think it is a possibility that he flew the coop, so to speak.

Gary has lived at my house longer than I have. His wings are not clipped but he doesn't fly. He hasn't left home the entire time he's lived with us, so I don't think he'd all of a sudden learn to fly and take off inmiddle of the night during the time he's normally asleep... I sorta wish I did think that cuz then I'd feel a bit better.
@Borfo, we live at Sunset Junction, corner of Sanborn and Sunset Blvd... We've asked all the local haunts and local people to keep an eye out and we've posted signs in the area...
honestly, I think that someone took him from our yard, either bc they were drunk as fuck and thought it was funny, or because they were cracked out and hungry. Either way, I'm super super super bummed. My heart is broken. I'm hoping beyond hope that he comes back to us, alive, well, and unhurt. Gary is one of my favorite housemates. I conversed with and sang to him all the time. He always greeted me with love nips and quacks.
maybe I'll post something to Craigslist.. thanks for the suggestion Allen..

Ashira! I love GARY. Im so sorry to hear that he is missing. I live in the area and will keep my eyes peeled. Losing a pet - no matter the species - is a very stressful. I'm kind of bummed to see all the joking going on on this thread. very insensitive.... Gary will make it back soon. you really gave him a good home he'll miss it and be back..

we're probably going to give Goldie the chicken away now too.. we don't want her to leave home but she already seems so lonely without Gary. They were BFF's and followed each other around everywhere and now he's suddenly gone...
we also don't want to put her at risk of being taken too, and clearly our house can't protect our feathered friends from that adequitly :( right now we have her sleeping in my roommates bathroom at night bc of this...
we're going to discuss it tonight but it seems we will bring her to an animal sanctuary tomorrow...
I'm sad sad sad... I really miss Gary...

yeh! the UPS guy saw the flyer we put up and told us he was up the street, so a couple roommates went up there and the lady was about to come and bring him back to us. somehow he ended up up there and found his way to her yard or something....

Reading this makes me wonder if something is going on with animals right now. I had two dogs wonder into my yard yesterday and hang around half the day, I have seen them before, they had collars, but no tags. My friend came and went, and said she saw the dogs with whoever own them walking them on a leash. Later that evening, they where back hanging in my front yard under the bushes. I have been having this happen with cats coming around also.
Glad you found the duck that lives at your pad.

I am so so so happy he's back... thanks everyone for being concerned and loving Gary so much. He is truely a one of a kind duck!
I think he's a bit traumatized.. he's been really quiet... but maybe he'll be better today....
he just disappeared for a day and a half and no one knows where he went... the lady 3 blocks up found him a few minutes before the UPS guy went to her... she said she almost ran him over with her car!
I think I'm gonna make Gary and Goldie collars... and we're definitely reinforcing the coop and putting a lock on it... for now they sleep in the roommates bathroom at night... safe and sound (and warm).
