Any Bike Mechanics Looking for Work?

I'm starting a small business selling Flying Pigeon bicycles and bakfiets in L.A. and I need a few good bike mechanics to help assemble bikes and bakfiets.
The pay starts around $120/day and you'd be working out of a warehouse in North East L.A.
The job will run from mid-August until mid-September - and you'll be one of the first people to learn how to work on bakfiets in L.A. (Dutchmen are flying out here to train us on that).

I've been stressing with all sorts of details of this little venture, so your advice is much appreciated.
I wonder - would anyone really want to buy a heavy, single speed, 1946 Raleigh-style bike that came from China? With the bikes on thei way to the U.S. right now out of Tiajin, I guess it is too late to be thinking this question out loud :)

Oh and is that '46 Raleigh styled bicycle a Flying Pigeon perhaps? (If so it's based of a '32 Raleigh, or a 49, not a 46).

Well, from joseph's original post, I'm assuming he wants to help bring Bakfiets to LA, which are the brand of bucket bike like he himself has.

how many would you have to build per day? I've built and fixed a couple at our bike shop and the owner pretty much decided to stop servicing those bikes. They end up being a bigger hassle than it's worth.

The FLying Pigeon bikes would go for a little more than $300, depending on our costs to import them (still up in the air a little bit).
They're the old-school, heavy duty, 1946 Raleigh style bikes everyone associates with China.
The Bakfiets come from one of the specialty manufacturers in Holland. The prices on those vary, but they start at around $2700 (I believe). The fuckin' dollar decided to tank in value right when both of these ventures got started - so we're hosed on the import costs and labor from Europe.
With the cost to own a car rising super fast, a bakfiets actually makes a lot of sense for some people.
So do motor scooters, but that is only if you're into scooting.

Dude, no way. They are too long to get up the handicap ramps. Unless you;re really creative.
Can you fit a tandem on the light rail cars?

I can speak mostly for the Blue Line. The Blue Line has the room for a tandem, but I read some where that you can't bring tandems on the train. The bikes mentioned above may not be considered tandems. Looks like they would fit fairly easily into the blue line cars too.

I was thinking about taking my tandem on the Blue Line.
The bike is over 10 feet long.
Someone told me they has seen a tandem on the train, but I decided not to risk it. What If I got up to LA and then was denied on the return trip? Metro clearly states "no tandems on the train"
The bucket bikes look to be at least as long as a tandem.

I took my tandem on the subway in LA. It fits fine... you just have to be willing to stand the whole time cause theres really no perfect place to lean it. The handicapped section at the end of the car is your best bet.
Theres really not many people around to hassle you about it anyway.
