I successfully refrained from becoming a facebook user all through college, and then got dragged kicking and screaming by my classmates within the first month of law school.
biggest waste of fucking time ever. I hate myself for having one.

i created one because as one of the last few people here in california to not own, or want to own, a cellphone it can get hard to reach people and find out events coming up.
but i agree.
read the terms: they can use your pictures and anything you upload, even after you've cancelled in any way they want and there's nothing you can do about it.
fuck.

The latest is that facebook has relented on their desire to own all of you on facebook. They also like to remind people that they relented "for now". Their attorneys are working on rewrite of the terms of agreement. My guess is that they'll lay claim again armed with a new ToA.

Dude just create a totally fake account. Nobody has to know it's you. And if you get tagged in photos you can untag it, say for example if adam takes a really awful photo and posts it and won't delete it (i've seen you do this, you crazy bastard :-) ), at least you can disassociate yourself.
