That's it! We officially have enough people for a regulation match of 43 Man Squamish ! I'll get there early to chalk out the Flutney but I call Team Captain as well as Right Inside Grouch.
I've told him time and again, a wart in your armpit does not count as an unborn twin. Even if it did it does not qualify you to attend the same thing twice at the same time since that would be unfair to those of us who can only go to a thing once, right now.
holy shit. i just saw this thread! what a fuckload of ridazz. add me add me. i can drive 3 ridazz and their bikes if needed, but wont leave til the evening on Friday.
Due to the darkness, and the sketchy roads, and the lack of signs, and that the hills have eyes. You may consider getting to the location during DAYLIGHT HOURS - just saying.
User1, did you find those mud pots yet?... I think I remember where they are...
"ok maybe leave ass crack o' dawn on Sat. If anyone wants a ride, contact me."
I am definitely driving, I know how to get there, and I don't know yet if I'll have Friday off. We can caravan Friday night like my car and neverclever's car did last year.
yeah i got the day off so i'm either leaving thursday night or friday morning with e and laharrie. towlies will have to lead the night squadron formerly, Team GREED!
i have a short school bus which I might be able to have ready by presidents' day, but i need to register and insure it. i don't know how much it will cost yet, but is anyone interested in pitching in?
user1 told me that this thing was going down weekend of Feb 14th. If that is so MR is on Friday the 13th. So that def means I will be driving up on Sat. to catch the MR ride.
Whomever wants to ride up saturday drop me a line jchungerford at the mail that is so g and we can all coordinate.
"towelie, can you email me the directions on getting there?"
hang in there. there will be good directions posted the week before the trip, the camping location is still to be determined. it's easy to find in the day time, not so easy at night.
That mud pit is not that far away from camp. About a 10 mile round trip. The ride I'm working on will be about a 50 mile round trip. The last part will be the mud pits. Chances are we'll have mud on our shoes. It would really suck to have to ride another 40 miles with mud. So the mud pits will be at the end. We'll roll into Niland and clean up at the only bar in town. I'm still working on the route.
BTW, if you're new to the trip, use Niland, CA as your destination. Camp is about 3 miles from there.
Salton Sea FUNraiser, hosted by your friendly neighborhood Tren Way Bicycle Gang -
Screening of Plagues & Pleasures: A Salton Sea Documentary
Wednesday, January 28
Meet at Lincoln Heights / Cypress Park Gold Line Station, 8 p.m.
(Very) Short ride to super secret screening location, leaving at 8:45 p.m.
Watch this incredible documentary about the Salton Sea, narrated by John Waters, that will make you EXCITED! EXCITED! EXCITED! about this camping trip
Ride through NELA after the documentary, ending back at the Gold Line station.
Address for Lincoln Heights / Cypress Park station:
370 W. Avenue 26
Los Angeles, CA 90031
There's parking at the station, if you are so inclined to drive.
Tell me if this is unrealistic, can I bring my suv and just sleep in it? I don't have any camping equipment. If I do drive I can bring 2 other people and their bikes and their camping shit.
When considering the 3 miles from and to camp from Niland, and the side trips, we should be at or over 50 miles. I'm looking at averaging 10 mph for the day. After mile marker 31 we have some options. This will depend on our time and what we want to do. There's a one mile dirt road between mile 33 and 34. After mile marker 34 is where the mud pits are. If there's ridazz in camp that want to join us at this spot, it would be a 20 mile ride for them from camp. The map for these peeps is here, Map to mud pits from Niland
After the mud pits we'll roll into Niland and stop off at the only bar in town. There will have a cold one and wash off if needed. From the bar it's back to camp.
I'll hold off on posting this up as a ride so that I can get feedback if we need to change anything. No feedback means everything is groovy. The time we should shoot to leave is shortly after 10am.
There's options built in and that I considered. What we find dictates how our day goes. If we get a good start, we'll have alot of options and not feel like we have to hurry.
No one is saying you can't go. It would be awesome to have you there! As long as it's cool with your folks, I don't see what the problem is. You're more than capable of taking care of yourself.
In recognition of the fact that a lot of you Salton Sea campers are also Mosey-ers, we're going to roll out after the screening and meet up with the Mosey, probably around 11 or 11:30.
Ms. Stephanie or other trenway organizer... email me so we can figure out where to meet up after the screening we were going to do a hilly ride this week... let's meet up! stepharc@usc.edu. we should have a route fixed by tonight.
In the future, which I understand is where we are headed, all men will wear expensive ladies' church hats. (you think I'm kidding. I'm not) So your Sunday best will be most appropriate. Sundae best is also delicious and perfectly acceptable.
I'm in, but I warn you, if it turns out that I have to tent with Orson Wells, then I'd prefer to bring my snuff box and stay awake all weekend instead.
Because it can't be said too many times, BRING WOOD !! LOTS AND LOTS OF WOOD !! It's going to be cold and you want to stay warm. Wood = Warm Bring it !!
sheli offered me a ride..but who else is going/driving with room for me, my bike and supplies. i want to know my options in case people are leaving at different times because I may have work.
This trip is going to be amazing. AMAZING. And if you want a little tease to get you even more excited, don't forget the screening / ride tomorrow night. Screening of Plagues & Pleasure on the Salton Sea at a super secret location, and then a ride afterwards. Info on the right ----------------------------------------------------------->
I give this movie THREE thumbs up! Go see the movie! The hero slays the villain and wins the girl's heart. A love story not to be missed! I am not ashamed to say I cried at the end.
"in a G rated movie the hero gets the girl"
"in an R rated movie the villain gets the girl"
"in and X rated movie everyone gets the girl"

IF you're coming to Salton Sea you MUST see this film and/or ask people who went last year questions. It's very important that you understand what your surroundings will be like. With the amount of people going the chance something will go wrong will multiply. So come, ask questions and LEARN...
Seriously the more you act stupidly out there the more of a chance you'll get shot by a local. YAY!
Yes – please know that the land with no law is rad and gives us a chance to explore and do what we want to do and be who we truly are and be FREE… however please also be VERY respectful not only to the folks who dwell in the surrounding areas but also to the land itself. PACK IT IN PACK IT OUT… that includes YOUR trash
It is good to minimize the shit by taking the extra packaging off your food as you are packing – (remember no one will feed you.. ration your food and make sure you have enough for all the days you plan on being there)
Blablabal you should have read this in the group…. There is A LOT of information available to you….
Aaaaaaaaanyway… you should go to the movie screening it is F.U.N.
Skano, Niki, Karla and Steve are getting a 21ft Mini RV.. We possibly have room for two more and two more bikes...This Trips gunna be Epic :D we're super EXCITED !!!!!
HEYHEYHEY!
I HAZ BIKE RACK!
i think it should work, but maybe we could plan a time to test it on your car? let me know. i get out of work on friday at 1pm and can ask for monday off.
so excited!
Does anyone who's driving have a hitch on their car? A U-Haul trailer is $15-$20 to rent. I'd be down to pay for the trailer if there's a car to attach it to. Then maybe the trailer could carry extra gear for the people who want to ride?
god damned, chynna was just saying she wasn't going because she knew I didn't want frumble to go and we knew frumble wouldn't go if chynna isn't going but she really is going but we still don't want frumble to go so we need to figure out some other ploy to get frumble to not go.
me and banaphone are going out Saturday, we have room for another person, one of our bikes would have to be sent out beforehand with someone else though.
I've changed my mind. I'm crazy. That's why I have Yes/ No shoes.
Anyway, since I'm going, it means Frumble is going, which means towelliesbong is going, which means Sexy is going. Did I get that order correct?
And since I'm going it also means I get to weird out Graham with some watermelon in the desert.
OOhhhh I got lumped in with Greg and this frumble?
Yes Chynna, go! we can eat out of season watermelon in the desert.
Which will be gross where ever you eat it.
Pay your Salton Sea camping dues here. It only costs $5.57.
When paying, please make sure to put your email address, real name, and Midnight Ridazz handle in the instructions field so we know who you are and how to email you with the campsite location. Don't worry, we won't post your personal info anywhere.
NO WATERMELONS, UNLESS YOU EAT THE WHOLE THING. WHICH OF COURSE YOU WONT!
Yeah sure. I didn't get to be 220lbs for nothing. I ate a whole watermelon four to five times a week this past summer. I would have at one everyday if I didn't have some semblance of self control Only problem is that they are out of season and milly right now.
I belong to a ultra lite camping group. One of the things some do is build their own stuff. Look into it if you like. Blankets is not that bad. Also if you wanted rent or had to, REI rents bags and tents.
This rock trick sounds potentially painful... I used to unzip two (and when I was very small, three) sleeping bags completely, then zip them up together & share the bag with another person or two. And now I realize that it's been more than two years since I've needed to do this. I need to get out(doors) more :[
I got a great job opp. Monday morning. I was wondering if I could
hitch a ride with anyone planing to head back to L.A. Sunday late
evening? I would leave all my gear with Sexy ( who I am going with!)
If you are, and that's a possibility ( : Let me know and I will give
more details!
Thanks!
i thought the $5 was only for people that can use the toilet, fire and etc. who said you cant go just because you dont pay the $5? im sure people can dig a whole to take a shit or find someother way. plus bring their own stuff like wood for fire.
miguel, you're an idiot. what's the point of camping if you're not welcome with Ridazz Camp? and who wants to dig a hole every time you shit? do you even know where we'll be camping?
If you guys crap alot, pay the $5. If you crap just a little, buy my diapers. I'll be selling them there $1 a piece. That includes disposal. The only requirement is that you don't have your DNA on record with the police department.
BTW, my first box of diapers is already sold out! Don't worry, I'll be getting more. BTW2, these are Depend diapers, not the cheap no name brand.
CAMPSITE LOCATION WILL BE EMAILED ONLY TO THE PEOPLE WHO PAY THE $5.57 CAMP FEES AND WILL NOT BE POSTED ANYWHERE. WE ARE STRONGLY URGING YOU ALL TO PAY THE FEES. REMEMBER IF YOU DON'T PAY, IT MEANS YOUR SHARE IS COMING OUT OF ONE OF THE ORGANIZERS POCKETS.
Obviously we are not going to tell you that you can't go on the trip, but realize we are putting a lot of work into this camping trip and $5 is not too much to ask so that we don't destroy the area and are welcomed back again next year. The campsite that has been chosen CANNOT sustain over 100 people digging holes for 3 or 4 days, and trust me, you will appreciate having porta potties. The extra money is going towards firewood, which again I'm fairly certain you will appreciate especially when the temperature drops into the low 40s and 30s.
Also, if you feel like donating any extra money for us to put towards firewood it would be greatly appreciated. We are talking about having a cord of wood delivered. Small bundles of wood are extremely expensive at the stores ($5.99-$6.99 usually), and the money is much better spent being pooled and having someone local deliver a cord of wood to us. This also makes it easier for people to pack their cars and not take up space with messy firewood.
question what if we're bring our own RV with and wood to supply the community bonfire?
its a few of us soo we still have to give up the 5 bucks each? we could use those 5 bucks for something else? more wood more booze?

Hey everybody, I don't post on the forums often so you might not know that this screen name is me Ari with the orange tall bike and bright light, etc.
Wow this list has grown drastically!! I know a lot of you are looking forward to your Salton Sea Medal of Honor to add to your growing collection, and I wish I can make 120 pins to give out to everyone as a gift that but that's really expensive. I was going to make 40 pins to give away for free as usual when I thought there were only going to be about 40 people.
I will now make 120 of them, but only the FIRST 40 will be FREE. So if you want your solid bronze Salton Sea Medal of Honor be sure to get one fast, after that all I'm asking is a measly 3 to 4 dollar contribution to cover my cost of materials. I may have a heart of gold to give away these medals on rides, but it isn't made of money. I want everyone there to get one of these and if I somehow run out of pins I can make more after the trip.
I have a ten person tent, lots of folding chairs, camping stove with gas, foldable pots and pans etc. It all fits into one box, I already have space for me and my bike in a car, but if anyone has a pick up that is going it would be rad to throw the box in the back of it. Its not that big at all and can be used for storage of food and wood when we are there.
