Somebody better be held to account or Oakland is gonna burn.
This is the most grievous shooting in a minute.
When NYPD murdered Amadou Diallo in front of his home they said his pager looked like a gun and "contagious fire" took over.
When Sean Bell was leaving a strip club on his wedding day and cops riddled his car, body, and the neighborhood with bullets they said they though he was going to ram them with the car.
What are they going to say about this guy?
That he was blowing deadly farts in the cops face while he was lying face down?
That cop needs to be in Jail with super fucking high bail.
If any of his homies lied on their reports they should go down too.
i read that the cops confiscated (or at least tried to) all the phones and cameras that were around after it happened. i dont know if its true or hearsay, but i wouldnt doubt it.
Damn was this guy handcuffed when he was murdered? Looks like the people around him were.
These pigs that have guns on the subway systems and the campuses around here are worst trained pigs around. They are the scariest and the most lethal. EXTRA precaution is advised when around them.
I'm just not down with the death penalty.
It does absolutely nothing good.
It has never worked as a deterrent and the state has no business in meting out vengeance.
On the other hand ... much less deserving people than this douche have gotten it.
I'm generally against the death penalty but in this case I would make an exception. I don't believe that this cop would suffer enough behind bars because I believe he would get special treatment like white collar criminals do. This cop should fry. period.
the reports are saying now that he may have thought he was pulling out his taser.
Fuck That!
he had no business tasing that guy in the first place.
The guy had a fucking knee on his neck.
You can't cuff a guy that is pinned with a knee on his neck?
This makes me think the physch test these cops have to undergo is not even close to rigid enough. The guy just pulls his gun out like it's NOTHING right in front of a train full of people.
I hope the passengers of the train sue the fuck out of the city for post traumatic stress disorder. I dont even know what it could possibly have felt like to see a person murdered in cold blood right in front of you like that. I hope they break the bank.
Notice the surprise dumb look on his face when he realized he was being taped..
That piece of Shit Cop resigned yesturday, enabling BART Police to interigate him. A lawyer (for the piece of shit cop) arrived at the BART station an Hour after the incident. He has yet to explain himself or apoligize. Bart police, Alameda County's DA's office and Oakland police are all conducting investigations.
The City of Oakland better come up with answer soon Becasue the Whole cities mad. Mind I remind you this isn't being portrayed and a racial Issue by the people .Last night at the demostration there where people from ALL ethnicities demostrating and rioting.
Also, what PISSED me off was the reaction of the BART police Chief when speaking to the media the next day acted nonchalant about the whole situation and didnt even apologize. He should be demoted asap. I remember when the May Day maylay occurred in Mc Carther park, Cheif Braton in a pink sameful blush apologized for his entire department that ever same evening.
this is exactly why i dont get along with the police they do shit like this and expect nothing to happen.. i had my face smashed against a door by a long beach police officer and had blood running down my face and was sat inside a holding cell with no medical aid, although i asked for some noone seemed to care.
this is some serious shit, hope none of thats guys friends find out what the officers name was cause when shit goes down in oakland... shit really goes down!!
i have no qualms about people rioting over this bs.
they should make the cop stick his hands in a vat of 99 baume sulfuric acid to teach him the appropriate time to use a gun on a handcuffed person on the ground.
I think everyone should calm the fuck down and focus their energy on getting a full-on, investigation, hearing and final-sentencing in line for the officer.
Last thing we need is more signs of distress and chaos in an already, fucked up state of existence.
I'll agree that the incident was disturbing, but city-dwellers going into shit-attack mode isn't going to help matters any better aside from riot-gear and heads getting knocked.
"I think everyone should calm the fuck down and focus their energy on getting a full-on, investigation, hearing and final-sentencing in line for the officer. "
Why should he? Oscar didn't get an investigation or trial.
Seriously though, this is a open and shut case. You'd have to be blind not to see that.
I'm definitely NOT saying fuck all cops. BUT it's absolutely clear beyond a shadow of a doubt that this cop pulled a weapon when he shouldnt have and he aimed the gun. It's a done deal. The cop should fry. He won't get the proper punishment in jail. The cops will treat him special. He needs to be mixed in with the common prison population like everyone else so that he can get a proper beating like rapists and child molestors get.
I see what you mean, but still, this isn't the Wild-West anymore and if anything the officer should be brought in by CHP, or some other multi-jurisdictional force aside from Oakland PD.
It's most likely me, but I think the rioting and protesting is getting a little old to deal with all of this.
if there isnt rioting then what is there? what's going to wake people up?
rioting is AMERICAN as apple pie. There were riots that led to the revolution. When the people are not getting justice they protest and they riot. That's what keeps the powerful minority in check. The fact that people will off with their heads, and have, for centuries.
Adam -
but I think the rioting and protesting is getting a little old to deal with all of this.
Me -
No Adam, what's getting old is these fuck ups that have the power of whole city behind them smashing the little guy with complete impunity. That my friend is getting old.
Just as I get jumped on over here, my friend up here starts giving me a mouthful of this same story and why I'm sticking to my course.
I'm going to go ahead and give y'all the benefit of the doubt.
The officer clearly had control issues, and for all we know was probably some short-fuse that just went off.
The one thing I would like to see that will make me be less in favor of this officer, if not the entire BART-police force, would be any records of questionable psychiatric test-findings made public.
As little as psychiatry professionals have ever meant to me, this may be one of the few times where I'll applaud them if they'll actually get up off their intellectual high-horses and make themselves useful.
I mean, the shooting has already occurred, someone's dead, now the key to closure would be to find out what lead the officer to fuck up royally.
Well at least you are coming around a little bit strider.... the many angles of video, the fact that dude was on the ground on his stomach being held down by another cop... its a clear case. I'm sure they'll figure out a way to let the cop off easy.... they always seem to. However, if they do, there will be more rioting and justly so. They should publish this scumbag's name. A cop has a special duty to protect the public including crimminals. He went the opposite direction and should pay dearly. Life behind bars with the general population. Period.
i've watched this video several times and i still can't make up my mind.
at first glance, the shooting was deliberate, however after watching it several more times, theres the look of 'shock' in the officer's face.
almost as if he said to himself 'oh shit' which would tie up to his 'thought it was a taser' testimony but your gun is a tool that you use fairly enough and received training with to mistaked it for a taser.
and then i think, this guy is in cuffs why does he need a taser anyways?
but even more priceless is the reaction of the guy on the wall to the left of him. he stood up and honestly if i was there, i would've been so scared that i probably might've jumped over that wall.
Also, my friend and I were harkening back to my failure of the CDCR psych test and how incidents like this one will make passing such things even more difficult.
I dunno, but I guess I was coming out in defense of the department only due to the fact that this might be the proverbial, "nail-in-the-coffin" as far as current, hiring standards go.
I'm somewhat sure that might not be the case, but if it is, then I'll be happy driving a big-rig for the next, 20 years.
yeah I noticed the look of shock on the officer's face, too. It may be he didn't mean to shoot the guy. But I mean really. what the fuck, he shouldn't have been pulling a gun out on a handcuffed person. what was that guy thinking.
and you think you'd hear more about this in LA news, i mean its practically a sister city. its right up the coastline.
really makes you think what happens when a situation escalates with the police down here. i mean let's give him the benefit of the doubt and say it was accidental.
do i really want to die because of a stupid accident?
For the benefit of the doubt, let's just hope that was the case and that the officer is scared shitless of the repercussions.
If I noticed a good portion of the population was after my ass, I'd file a missing-persons report on myself and disappear into Utah, or some other place.
if anything adam, i think you should be the most pissed off person here. numerous times youve told the tale about not passing a psych evaluation for the police academy and how you felt wronged by it. youre a fairly level headed guy. obviously this guy wasnt. doesnt that make you feel a little sick inside that they (although a different city/precinct) gave this guy a job and not you?
"I dunno, but I guess I was coming out in defense of the department only due to the fact that this might be the proverbial, "nail-in-the-coffin" as far as current, hiring standards go. "
strider, that's a heck of selfish reason to come out in defense of anything let alone a cop who murdered someone in cold blood.... don't worry it won't be the nail in the coffin. this shit has happened before, it will happen again. the hiring standards didnt prevent this scumbag from being a cop... I doubt they will come up with some new test that will weed 100% of the scumbags in the future....
Okay, roadblock, wrong choice of words there, I'll agree.
Perhaps I'm just overall pissed at the current, downward spiral that the public view of law-enforcement has taken.
And also in response to tyler, this is probably just more shit thrown into my face in regards to myself being denied entry into the field, while crazy-boy waltzes right on in.
I guess the only reason I finally responded like this was because some of my close friends and people I know up here were consistently hounding me for an opinion on this issue.
I tell you what though, if people continually think I support those extreme acts of violence, I'll go ahead and shame them by dropping all masculine-plans for myself, and be a professional NANNY!!!
In closing though, for what it's worth, I'll say some prayers for the families of both parties and continually cross my fingers that cooler heads will prevail and no more blood is shed on account of this incident.
The world's already suffered enough, perhaps it's time for loud dogs like myself to just gallop into the sunset and try not to crack any eggshells under the hooves.
They Arrested the F*&K Face last night in Reno. He is being held on Murder charges. This Good News come just in time because there is a protest scheduled these evening with an estimated 5000 attendees...
Still can believe that shit... grant didn't die for a couple hours. I GUARANTEE that this piece of shit cop was not so much trying to kill dude but to "teach him a lesson" and to terrorize. Dude should get prison for 25 minimum. Fuck this piece of shit.
Man that cop is so fucked.
He is indeed the dumbest mutherfucker this side of the mississippi.
He quit his job rather than talk to investigators and now he's been arrested as a fugitive.
Sadly ... a smart cop can weasel out of a murder wrap pretty easy.If this dude would have played it "smart", i'm pretty sure he would have gotten manslaughter or some other BS charge. As it is they are going to charge him with 2nd degree MURDER.
Its sad that Oscar had to give his life to route this miserable fuck out of the police force.
And no matter how many times he repeats "I was going for my X-26, honest!", even the most slow-witted judge won't fall for that.
If one can't tell the difference of grip from an X-26 Taser and a Glock-17 semi-auto, then perhaps that person should hang it up and wash rodeo stables in Evanston before they sink any further.
Kind of funny how he tried to proclaim innocence, resign his position, then flee into Nevada.
Perhaps they should do away with all the extra departments up there and just merge the BART Police with SFPD.
Might not make much of a difference, but it could reduce the amount of jurisdictional and administrative bullshit when it comes to handling rank/file cases like this.
The cop should get the same treatment as the victim he shot... FIRING LINE!
I believe it was racially motivated, if you've ever been or lived in East Bay for awhile you'd see it. I have a lot of family up there and they see it all the time also. Hell, the whole line of work they do encourages racial profiling. It takes a certain type of person with a certain mentality to become a cop. In the bay area, it IS a whole White and Black thing, there is no doubt about that. Remember the Black dude that killed four White cops with his SKS and pistol on March '09? In my eyes that was just payback for past killings like this one by the PD that were unjustified and went unpunished.
I think in L.A. it's more of an all-around racial profiling but then again you'd have to ask some other races about that and how they were treated by a certain race of cop. In the East Bay a majority of the police on the force are white but in L.A. there are a good amount of Hispanics and Blacks also, which is why I believe racial profiling is different depending on who you get pulled over by. We all know prejudice when we see it...
LAPD statistics in 2000: 46% of the department was white, 33% of the department was Hispanic/Latino, 14% was African American, and 7% was Asian.
Some of these numbers could been bumped up or dropped but you get the picture.
I was just reading how the cop that shot Oscar Grant had a kid the day after the shooting... the irony. The Wikipedia article states he had to move twice because of death threats. I hope he's happy with what he did. He took a child's father away forever and now he's probably gonna get the same outcome, hopefully. Gotta live with the consequences...
Disgusting. Why does this remind me of a scene in the Killing Fields? Oh yeah, because it's disgusting. This guy definitely deserves to rot in prison. Let's hope the jury sees that.
Hell yeah, keepin' it Wild West style. The way I see it, it's either them or us and I'd rather it be them. BOOM!
It's funny when we see a cop and run or look the other way and they wonder why... because you have a gun bro with a badge that gives you a license to kill! Hell yeah I'm gonna run the other way...

Regardless of the outcome for Oscar Grant's killer, ride against extremist police enforcement, compulsive authority, and institutionalized brutality. Retribution is not a guilty conviction but a movement to end this madness. Disarm the police and give them bicycle repair kits instead.
Free ride the Justice for Oscar Grant verdict event.
"His possible sentence for involuntary manslaughter is two, three or four years, plus three, four or 10 years for using a gun. That means the minimum total sentence that Judge Robert Perry could impose would be five years, and the maximum would be 14 years.
Violence and rioting is not the answer to misjustice.
You're playing into exactly what the man wants.
If you were old enough to experience the past riots that this city has gone through
you would realize that your only hurting yourself and your community.
I heard on the news the least he could receive is probation. Even if he does 2-4 years, he could probably get out earlier for good behavior I'm guessing. Somebody will probably deal with him on the inside before he gets out unless they guard him carefully.
Well, at least no more union protection for this slob.
That and even fastfood joints won't bother giving his application a time of day.
So once his sentence is over, he'll be pretty much dead to the world as far as usability goes.
As for the wife and kids, they'll probably dump his ass fade from his life as well.
