I beat cancer once before

and I'm gonna do it again.
This time it's in my stomach (last time it was malignant melanoma).
Just found out a few days ago, still waiting on a biopsy to tell me how far it has spread.
This will be interesting as my health insurance provider dropped me about a month ago.
Recyclebike will roll on as far as my health permits.

Wow... My prayers will go out to you. You and your recycle bike are awesome and it saddens me to hear it but just continue to stay positive and before you know it you'll be healthy once more.

Hey there. I haven't met you yet either, but we know some of the same people and they think you're awesome.
My grandmother kicked Cancer 3 times (one time was stomach cancer). She lived to be 92. It is totally possible. Lean on your community here as much as you need to. We're here for you!

I have been on the phone for the last 20 minutes with a specialist in the area. He is offering me 95% price reduced medical treatment for my stomach cancer. He is doing so out of his own pocket.
If I can find a medical marijuana dispensery that can do the same I can probably do better at maintaining my appetite, and thus my health. I am literally scraping by financially with the bills and lack of photography work. I had to ask my brother for help pay my bills last month and I don't think I will be able to pay him back any time soon.
One of the rough parts of this variety of cancer is the lack of appetite. I get full from very small meals sometimes, and often dont want to eat at all (which is something very new to me). It has been hard to get over 1,300 calories a day for the past few weeks. The days where I smoke cannabis I can *almost* eat like a normal person. The pain is pretty much constant at this point, but tollerable. Just like a long hill, you can't let up for one second or it will be that much harder to get going again.
I have to take nutrition more seriously now I guess.
This has been a great struggle for me in the past few days especially. My girlfriend is out of town for another 3 weeks supporting her dad through a bike adventure from Shanghai to Beijing. Not having her there to support me is...
Without Midnight Ridazz I wouldn't leave my house very much at all (I work from home mostly now-adays). MR has been a great blessing to me.
These past few weeks/months have revealed to me a community full of love and adventure that I have been searching for for 21 years. I thank you all for that.

Chris, how did you discover that you had stomach cancer? What triggered you to go to the doctor? I'm so sorry to hear about this, but I have a really good friend who has a med. marijuana card. You know him too. ;) We have your back Chris. Thanks for coming to our ride on Sundays and helping us keep the parks clean and keeping a positive vibe going on. You'll beat this, we all believe in you!

I will for sure go on Erik's Birthday Moustache Ride. I wouldn't miss it for the world.
I first figured out that something wasn't right when my appetite changed in a big way about a month ago. I lost my appetite for about a week so I figured it would be a good idea to see a doctor.
I described all the symptoms to him and he told me they are characteristic stomach cancer symptoms. After few a urine and blood tests he recommended me to a specialist. We did a very minor outpatient orthoscopic surgery to get a biopsy sample of my stomach.
I had to wait about 2 weeks for the results, and they were positive for cancer.
The plan from here is to have surgery to remove it, and possibly to chemo/radiation therapy eventually. When this will happen is still not knows, as they need to do a few more biopsies/tests to reveal the extent of the situation.
Obviously with recurring cancer you must be careful not to miss anything the second time around.
I will keep everyone updated, I really am touched by the love people are showing me. Thank you.

Wow barleye, that picture was taken before I got hit by the car in september.
Look at how healthy I was.
I was 160 pounds of pure muscle back then. I did double century weekends twice a month.
Now I am 190 pounds (but I am losing that quickly) and feeling a touch slower, haha.
@mixtemotions Yup that was me, and it was great learning how to play cribbage (Thanks Dan). That ride was pretty fucking killer last night. I woke up this morning with a BUNCH of shit to do but I just wasn't feeling good at all. A couple more hours of sleep and some "super breakfast" helped replace my energy somewhat.

My grandfather survived stomach cancer about a decade ago, and he's been fine since (well on the cancer front anyway, he's like old as hell, and starting to fall apart in other aspects).
You'll pull through this.

shit, man. i'm sorry to hear this.
i think the first ride i met you was dtla w/ eddieboy through usc and all that, but i was on the roof with you last week after swine flu (i'm tim...the kinda lanky guy with the cream steamroller). either way, yelling "recycatrike!" every time i have an empty beer can always brightens my night.
let me know if there's anything i can do. including donating more than just cans.

What I really need right now is to get my medical cannabis license renewed, and then find a compassionate caregiver to supply me with the cheapest (free would be a miracle) medicine possible so I can maintain a normal lifestyle.
The specialist said if my lack of appetite gets bad enough I will have to get fed through a tube / I.V. :(
How shitty would that be to get nutrition through a freaking tube.
So, yeah. Right now I am trying to concentrate on my nutrition and get alot of rest. I still feel that riding is an important part of my health, and I will continue to ride untill the day I die, cancer or not.
I have begun keeping a detailed journal of my eating habits, and I hope that helps in some way, even if it just keeps me busy.
I am trying this herbal stuff my Vietnamese front neighbor lady gave to me for appetite. I've been doing that for about a day now, and no changes. I will stick with it for a while, untill I can get some cannabis.

Hey man, I dont think I've ever met you before, but I do feel for ya,
if it helps any, I once heard about a man who was diagosed with cancer so he just started watching alot of comedians and funny movies. hense the phrase " laughter cures cancer" apparently when you laugh your body realeses endorphance which apparantly opens a big Ol can of whoop ass on those cancer cells.
I hope everything works out the way you want it.

I'm really sorry to hear about this. It's a shitty, shitty disease, but it's beatable. My uncle lived for 5 years of constant radiation and chemotherapy without changing his globetrotting lifestyle- it's all in the attitude.
What I have for you- a huge bag of protein powder. You mix in a tbsp or two with any liquid you consume, to add more nutritional value to the foods you're already eating. We used it to keep my grandmother off of the tube for a month or so when she wasn't physically able to eat much. Hit me up, I'll give it to you on the next ride.
