Here is a quick snap I got of my new project. Good times, as you can see the 700c Velocity DeepV in the rear is a perfect match for my custom 72 inch wheel I made for the front.
HOLD ON LA, FUCK YEA its time to ride
She will be done by the end of the weekend and so will 2 cubes of Pabst
I think i am going to be building it live on the web cam this weekend from my skunkworks shop in DTLA ( top secret - address not given )

how will you ride it? are you going to have running gear to the 700c? there is no way your riding it big wheel style unless you are bigfoot.

That's what I was thinking. The only way it can be ridden old school is if he was Shaq. The other way is with levers and crap that sounds like a pain.

how do you power it? how do you find tires/tubes for it? how do you find spokes/hub strong/long enough?

also what about a brake! i cant imagine how useless just a rear brake would be. that front wheel is alot to stop.

Or, what I would do, mount to chain rings (with one crank each) on both forks. Essentially having two drive trains. Gear them correctly and they will still work in sync.

Unusual for a regular bike, yes, but certainly not uncomfortable. If you did it the quick and easy way of welding a bottom bracket to each side of the fork, I imagine you would have about 9-12 inches between the pedals. If a person was to use their noodle and figure an easier way to mount a chain ring to their fork, sans BB, you might be able to cut it down to 6-8 inches. ¿Comprende?

Its a really simple idea of running a set of bottom brackets on both fork legs, its not a big deal as some builders did this back in the late 1800s when the racing started getting very competitive. The bigger the rider the bigger the wheel the faster you went, BUT it hit a point when the wheels became bigger then the inseam so new ways of using the bigger wheel was needed. With that, the guys building the really fast bikes started using chain drive with bottom brackets on both fork legs.
HERES the reason you don't see many of them - When you CRASH it hurts twice as much!!!
O yea, it was also the idea of having more junk that made a very simple machine more complex so most builders just sponsored racers with very large inseams and gave up on masive wheel concept bikes.

I tire doesn't have air in it, as almost every penny runs a non pnumatic tires. With my big wheel I will be putting a thick rubber jacket around it, it will be like a cut in half masive rubber garden hose and it will be attached with some classy copper rivets on the side of the rim to stoke out the ladies and match the Brooks.

I remember letting some kids try my PF at the bike kitchen a few years back. They all crashed, not a single one of them managed to ride it. It took me a few days to try and figure out how to get on and offthe damn thing... fun though.
