Is This Sea Dead? Ride (Pt 1 & 2)

Time - 10 am for Part 1, 2 pm for Part 2

This ride is divided into two parts so that some can choose to do a either a 50 mile ride, or a 20 mile ride. The mileage doesn't reflect the 2 - 3 miles from camp to Niland. The 50 mile (part 1) ride will encompass all of the 20 mile (part2) ride. The two rides will meet at the Schrimpf Rd and Davis Rd, SW of Niland around 3pm. This is the location of the mud pots.

Road conditions can be asphalt to dirt road. Don't assume that this route will be all paved. We'll have opportunities to stop to explore and photo shoot. It won't be a race. It will be driven by consensus what we do.

Mile 6 - Maximum Security Prison

Mile 10 - Stop for probably our only store stop and some exploring of Calipatria. Find the world's tallest flagpole at sea level for a photo shoot. Then it's back on the trail.

Vail turns right and heads north
then turns right again

From the end of Garst Rd stay north of the canal and go east on a dirt road for a mile.
Arrive at the corner of Schrimpf Rd and Davis/Wister Rd*. Here is the mud pits, and we join others doing the short ride.
