Three residents of Suburban Dreamland cross paths at dusk. A middle-aged man, sustainability in mind, rides his utility bike rather than drive his car. He slows his bicycle to safely pass unknown neighbors Mom and Son crossing a street in the middle of a block.
Mom's walking.
Middle aged man passes Mom and Son with no incident, after which Mom yells, "Hey son, look at that loser!"
Son's on a bike.
Middle-aged man, to whom words come slowly, just rides on, believing Mom speaks from impulsive prejudice and opinion, not from knowledge or fact. He silently wishes Mom gave more thought to sustainability. He can see Son's working on it, no help from Mom.
