whats the easiest way to get music up and running on a ride? it seriously is a must.

reply

Easiest? Do like OG Eddie and put some small enclosed speakers on your handlebars, with an iPod as the source and some kind of small (boombox? car stereo?) amplifier as the system. Attach everything to your bike with zip ties or duct tape or some shit so you can take it off easily.

This won't be all that loud, but you asked for the easiest way. If you want it really loud, you're going to have to go with something trailer mounted. Talk to Big Bike Dan, Eric Einem, Alec (young kid from El Segundo who puts on events on the Westside) or someone like that for advice.

Alternatively, you could learn to let the music of the city be your soundtrack.

You could try the (relatively) simple marine battery+amp+speaker box+ipod method.

If all else fails: GHETTO BLASTER, FTW!

I think building a system that would go on the rear rack of a bike is doable and would sound good. I haven't run across anyone that had a decent system, but I'm sure someone has done it already. There is this article I ran across awhile ago on a DIY sub woofer,
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,2100493,00.asp

Build the sub woofer and then two directional speakers for stereo. Use an auto system with a 12 volt 12amp hr battery, carry a small charger with you and you're good to go.

I've been kicking around the idea with Dan on upgrading our sound, but nothing has materialized yet.

ya know, i rode some kid on the seat of my bike for quite a few miles last night, so I'm pretty confident I could rock the one arm ghetto blaster on shoulder technique...oh yeah.

that was you riss, I saw that, I was like dam she's gona feel that in the morning. Pulling a trailer is easy but it does depend on how many Lbs. your pulling and the grade. I've pulled my 85 lbs bulldog with a mountain bike my average speed was 9 mph.
