 Yay! Another industrial designer has decided to say "screw functionality and existing solutions; I'm going to create this minimalist thing with no versatility and multiple points that are virtually guaranteed to fail catastrophically under the slightest wear. And since all of the parts are custom-fabricated, it'll cost a bundle, too! But that's OK, because it looks nifty, and it'll totally get featured on tons of design blogs. That's all that matters, anyway..."

 anyone want to build a boot leg working model. weld a chain on the inside of a rim where the spokes should be. you guys feeling me?

i doubt it though. the wheel would have to be really lightweight but really sturdy

 There is no way that thing would work in any meaningful way unless there is some massively compounded gearing in that little plexiglass assembly attached to the rim. I mean, seriously, attached to the rim? Someone clearly has no idea of the fundamental principles that make the bicycle a useful piece of machinery.

I mean, this is obviously just a rendering form someone's undergrad design project, right? No one would be stupid enough to build a prototype of something with such blatant disregard for basic physics. Would they?
