This is being organized by Dan Koeppel, the local journalist and cyclist who wrote the DIY Bike Lane article in Bicycling magazine. It's a 2-day walk of over 100 staircases in Los Angeles. It hits some of the areas of Feel My Legs and Thus Climbed Zarathustra (two Swarm! events that utilize stairs or hills in these neighborhoods). This is a fantastic opportunity to see parts of Los Angeles that very few do. And those cycling legs will come in handy.

We hope to! Probably back to October near Nietzche's birthday again. We actually started to organize an event that is part staircase, part dirt roads (In Echo Park!), but it got put on the backburner to work on this Big Parade thing.

Here's what we need help with:
We've got lots of places to stop and learn. What we need is some en route entertainment and games! Do you have a tuba? An accordion? A barber shop quartet? Seriously - if there's anything you can do, or anyone you know, who can make a little portion of our walk more festive, please volunteer! It would be best to email me at this point, rather than reply in the facebook thread:

Also, if you live on the route and want to provide bathrooms, water, or any support services, please let me know.
Finally, spread the word. Bring your kids. Special requests? Do you have any information about cool places along the way that we might not have heard about? Email me!
Next up - the Day Two timetable, a downloadable flier that you are encouraged to distribute around your neighborhood (a Spanish version is in the works), and an updated FAQ for participants.

This was the shit this past weekend!!! Had a great time and the walk Saturday kicked my ass! I'm hoping to do the walk that happened yesterday, another time. I hope Dan does some other walks and does this event again. He and others did a fantastic job planning this out.
