Hello there just to let people know the ride will start @ 8:30 or 9:00. If people want to give sugestions of what type of beer should be bought for the event. that would be great . or suggestions on what route we should go through the final stop is at santamonica and virgil and will start at 5th and flower.also i need to enforce the drinking age limit. so if you kids out there think your going to be able to drink beer or chelas at the party you need to have your ID present when you go get beer. Also i need help desining the spoke cards. if anyone can help me that would be so cool i want to change that swap machine from the logo and put a bike up in there with a crazy goofy looking messenger. if you can help will let you drink free beer at the day of the even.LOL.

Hello there thanks for that link roadblock to help out on the route for the ride thanks to you i got the perfect ride for the DTLA MESSENGERS and for every one that is welcomed to join all of us messengers from Downtown Los Angeles, and bikers from Los Angeles to not just celebrate the birthday of one our comrades. But to also promote a better safer bike riding downtown Los Angeles For everyone In the CIty Of DTLA For Not Just the Messengers but for All Workers in DTLA that use their bikes as their primary tool for work. At the moment we are working on the spoke cards and flyers for this party event that will take place on Sep,29 2006.We are changing that freaking swap machine to a bike.Mostly all the bikers at time machine would really want that sawp machine out of the picture and would like to put a better looking bike messenger in the mix.Besides that the ride is still gona go strong.POWER TO THE DTLA MESSENGERS

Today was the first day that we started passing out flyers. To all the messengers in DTLA.The Route is already made , and the ride will be approximately 15 miles. Yeah i know its kinda short but it will have lots of turns and twist around the streets of DTLA, while we pass by through our fellow crack head fiends saying HIGH through Skid Row, then to go right ahead and pass under the 3rd street tunnel back on flower st to olympic blvd to figueroa st N,onto 2nd st W,on glendale ,on to sunset blvd, nothing but to have full of fun at the end with a party. heres a tiny url to how the route is going to take place http://tinyurl.com/enfh2

Like that ill ride along after with the pajama ridazz .Besides that i want to congratulate gnuzycats for the bad ass make over of the time machine logo. if you ride with us next friday i promise ill let you drink all the beer you want like i said. LOL dont pass out though. However all my co workers and fellow bike messengers just think that biker is on one seriously crazy tripp. Thanks a lot for helping out. On the contrary i also want to announce my virtual condolences for the rida killed, and his family members this past monday.

is this going to be a hardcore, fast-paced sort of ride or will there be non-messenger types participating as well?

this ride is going to be a slow paced ride at first. Then once we reach sunset and glendale thats when whoever want to drink beer for free has to take off. Because the first 20 bikers that get to santamonica & virgil those guys are going to be able to drink beer for free!!!!!! Im sorry i said 30 at first but thats aliitle out of the budget that we had planned at first. However people are welcomed to bring their own drinks. Were at the end were all just going lounge and kick back to tunes on a dj set. People will be welcomed to ask the dj to play by request. Will see how it goes

Well tommorow is the big day. We Will Be meeting at DTLA at 8:30 PM Most likely Will be taking off 9:00 PM Will be Ridding all through Twist and turns all over Downtown Los Angeles through Skid Row as we wave to our fellow homeless residents of the infamous Skid Row Area of DTLA. Then Back on through flower to olympic to figueroa then 2nd street to glendale there will be a check point at Alvarado and Sunset at the gas station were we will be meeting to start the race to Santa Monica and Virgil were once again i say the first 20 ridazz to reach the 7/11 will be able to drink beer for free. theres a five dollar charge to enter the location were we will all be lounging at. This is to pay fellow neighbors to let us party at thier freindly back yard we will be having a live dj set up. Were we will be playing all sort and kinds of music basically chillaxing while you enjoy a brew there will be an open fire bbq so any one is welcomed to bbq some meat if solely wish to do that. Remember everyone is welcomed

Did I miss something on this ride?
The people in the back of the ride who didn't race over to Sunset/Alvarado, didn't seem to want to follow the route given out on the back of the spole card. I tried a few times to get the ride going on it's given route, but people keep missing turns, and went for the straightest way to the destanation. The area of the route we stayed on was wonderful.
Thanks to the organzier for putting it together, it was a really fun ride.
Why didn't people want to follow it? Can somebody clue me in. I always thought the pot of gold of these rides, are the rides. Not the destation,
There is always a sadness I feel when the ride is over, especially when I have to ride of by myself which, most always has to happen.
Was it lack of communication, or what was it?

ALL I GOT TO SAY IS THANKS TO ALL THE PEOPLE THAT SHOWED UP. I KNow it didnt go as i thought it would. And a lot of the messengers just took off think it was a race from the beggining i tried to catch up to them to let them know that it was not a race in the beggining. However this just helped me out to realize to just be more on guard with what was going on. i want to apologize to all the ridazz that came from so far most of them to join us that day. Hopefully next ride would be better than the last. PEACE

That was a great ride, and an awesome race - I just wish that I hadn't raced out of downtown to get to the starting point. But it was fun narrowly avoiding getting hit by buses and cars, and pretty much bombing through an awesome route. With all the uphills on the ride, it was definitley to the advantage of the dudes on fixies.
If you want to go to another race, there are a couple of races on the 2nd saturday of each month after the Spoke(n)Art ride. Shit talking is encouraged.

this ride was dope. even though it wasn't a race to the start point, it was still worth the ride just to do that. the 2nd leg of the ride, going down to the 7/11 was a short almost all downhill blast. I was barely keeping up with the roadies on my fixed, and I was hauling ass on the final hill. spinning out on a 82 gear inch ratio is the fastest I've ever gone on a fix and I probably almost killed 4 people trying to get the beer card.
