Okay it can be a dive, especially if you stay in the rooms accross the street. But I stay at the downtowner two or three blocks from the fremont street experience
129 N 8th St
Las Vegas, NV 89101
(702) 384-1441
I checked rate already, it like the usual $47 a night plus tax and a ten dollar refundable per key deposit
it will sleep two comfortably, the best part of this motel is that it would be no problem to bring your bikes in the room especially if your on the first floor. You could probadly do alright with 3or4 people, if your the hardcore young type.
The older rooms accroos the street are bitchen rooms, big, but it stinks from old stale smoke in there. (if you saw the movie "Casino"
it was where they filmed Sharon Stones character getting coked up with Lester Diamond-James Wood in the hotel with deep brown wood doors and green carpet, it really has that feel to it- thats it) Last time I was there, I stayed over there. The smell literally made me feel awful, but I wonder if I had brought my Ozone/air purifier, if it would have been ok. My air purifer is one of those ones that cost $700. It real good it getting rid of bad odors in a hurry. In fact some say it's the only thing that will get the smoke smell out of smokers cars.
Also if you stay here with friends, make sure you get a room that has two beds . They have alot of rooms with just one bed.
I have had great times at that hotel, overall clean but smaller rooms (not so small) and yes the downtown area has gotten depressing again (my experience last time I went to Vegas about two months ago)
I was in Vegas a couple of months ago and saw that they have bike racks on the front of their CATS (clark area transit system aka public buses). The ones that go up and down the strip our double deckers, would be neat to ride on one since I have never been on one.

Maybe we can all dress up like Dr. Gonzo and Raul Duke. Fear n' loathing baby! Or is that too unoriginal?
I'm making plans to go!

check orbitz, travelocity, etc.
The Sahara, Tropicana, and CircusCircus are all in the $60+ range. This is vegas baby, you might win enough to pay for your keep. Its a long way to go just to do a bike ride.
Stash some gas money for the return trip though, just in case.
have fun.

don't say it, it's not just a bike ride, its a spread the love ride. Old hippies never die, they just pass the j (or maybe just bogart it) and pedal off into the sunset...

The Stratosphere has rooms for $37. AND it's a nice place.
Check
Sidestep.com
It searches all those sites and many more for the lowest.
It's a little farther, but not as far as Fremont.
Plus...FUCK...we have bikes: and what's a mile or two on a two wheeled war horse.

Sidestep.com is the shit. just let it search all of the different websites.
Didn't know that when I first used it. Give it a minute to search, the rates are incredible. Thanks Erichair
