If anyone knows the woman who crashed and left in an ambulance could you let her know that the ridazz want to know that she's alright? Thanks.

Hello Ridazz
I was out to dinner with my wife Sunday night and she was sportin her new tee shirt, when a small group of people came into the resturant and noticed it. One of group was wearing his arm in a sling, and told us he was one of the two cyclist who took the horrible spill. His name is Dan and his friend who was also hurt is Charissa. Dan had insurance, and was doing ok but Charissa had no insuance, and some major problems. She had a concussion, and broke a tooth.
Dan is going to check with Charissa to see if she would be opposed to getting help from some of the ridazz. If she ok's it, I suggested that they set up a paypal donation account, and that I would promote it in a youtube video of the ride.
I'm sure any support would be welcome, and I will post more info when Dan gets back to me.

Thanks for posting this - I was about to do the same.
Let's definitely help out and show support, especially financially.
Ambulance ride is one hella expensive debt to get into w/ no insurance.

I'm still waiting for Dan to get back to me. Great idea about the side button. I'll write him again, and let the list know when I have the facts and the button code.

Hi, I'm Dan, the other crash victim. I broke my wrist but otherwise I'm OK. I am out of the sling and I am gaining more mobility as my swelling goes down.
Charissa is also doing reasonably well considering the severity of the crash. I've passed along your generous well wishes.

Hey peeps,
Charissa here.
I'm doing well, scratches are healing up and I'm back to work.
Aww, you guys are so awesome. Though I didn't have insurance, LA County was really helpful and the charges were totally manageable for me..no worries. Thanks Ridazz for being so generous!

Hi Charissex,
I'm so relieved to hear that you're doing well. It will be awesome to see you ride with us again. I had a bad crash a few months ago and got road rash on the side of my face, too. I used Tegraderm, a clear plastic skin cover for my face and that kept my skin moist so that it wouldn't develop scabs and scar. My face healed pretty nicely and I kept it out of the sun so the new skin wouldn't discolor.
You can read about my accident here:

Thanks for posting the news; it's really good to know you're both doing well. It's always upsetting to me when someone gets hurt on a ride. Even among 1000 ridazz, one serious injury feels like too many.
I wonder if there are ridazz among us who have training in emergency medical response or first aid that would be willing to be identified for help in such situations.
As much fun as it is, riding a bicycle can be a risky activity. We should try to remember that the road is much harder than the human body. Act accordingly.

Good idea Mr. Rollers. I am not an EMT but I do receive annual first aid and CPR training for work and would be willing to help in a good samaritin kinda way. This could tie into carrying a first aid kit on the rides and maybe a walkie-talkie or some other form of communication. We did this same thing for my neighborhood watch group and then exchanged phone numbers in case of emergency (who has a generator, who stores water, who is trained in first-aid and cpr etc. etc.).
I'm not looking forward to anyone getting hurt but I would do what I could to help someone out.

Very glad to hear you are all right, you had quite a few of us worried. It was the night of the dead bicyclists, but we didn't mean it literally.
Hey, you know, I actually have no idea what happened. I think I was trying to get to the front at the time of the crash. Can someone fill in the details for me? I'd hate to repeat mistakes.

Reguarding EMT, It was a LA county firefigter and LA county lifeguard who checked out Charissa, before the Ambulance came. So we do have EMT's in our ranks, probably more then two. I think it great that we take advantage of our emergency response team's that we all pay big tax money for. They have more in there trucks, to aid someone who has been injured, then any of us could carry on our bikes. If it so bad that you have to call an ambulance, it probably best to do so. Of course, having some first aide is always a great thing.
If you have to call for an ambulance. It's pretty easy to get the fire department to wave the fee's if you can claim poverty. I've done it before, it pretty easy to get the fee forgiven from the city of L.A.F.D. I have never had any experience with the county fire department.
Emergency room fees can also be forgiven with Prop. 99 money. The people who bill for the hospial won't let you know it. If you ask enough hospital administratiors they will eventuly tell you how to ask the billing people how to ask for the application to get the energency room bill forgive. There is lots of cigarette tax money, that is just for this purpose.
Better yet, let all stop getting hurt, may the drivers avoid the bikes, and NO MORE GHOST BIKES!
