S.L.O.U. Is a ride for all those who identify with the LGBT community and their friends to come on out and have fun on a bike ride.
This ride is going to take place following the West Hollywood Pride Parade. We are going to meet by the flag pole at the corner of Crescent Heights and Santa Monica.
This ride is about inclusiveness, fun, bikes and most of all having a good time!
I've got less than 5 days to come up with $500 to make my fundraising goal for Aids Life Cycle, if you would like to help me out and sponsor me for any amount please donate online at
yeah for a sec i got excited because i thought this might actually be an IPU (invisible pink unicorn) ride, but LGBT is cool too. For those of you who doubt her existence I offer you this argument:
"Invisible Pink Unicorns are beings of great spiritual power. We know this because they are capable of being invisible and pink at the same time. Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them." --Steve Eley
We can subtitle this ride, "The Invisible Pink Unicorn Ride" .... :)
LGBTQ - etc. , in my mind, always includes friends and allies.
My goal is to reach out to people to get more bicycles on the road.
Unicorns, parades, bicycles....seems like a good place to start to convince those fence-sitters.... the ones who say, "well, i WOULD ride, but where are all the unicorns and the parades?"
get off the fence!!! fence sitters! Here is your unicorn parade.
*******
help Danny reach his AIDS Life Cycle Goal! I'm going there right now...and any other riders that haven't reached their goals yet...post here and we can try to help!!!
This is for a good cause, please reach into your pocket, wallet, stash, piggie bank (like my 6 year old daughter) and give a little, no odnation is too small or big!
been doing a lot of thinking about the meaning of community recently...
how do we support our community?
do we still stop to think about how very difficult it can be to come out in a world full of violent misunderstanding about gay-ness?
as we gear up for Gay Pride week in LA, i hope we can stop to remember some of the history and struggles that we all continue to face in the LGBTQU !!! (the U is for unicorn)
2,333 riders, 4 of them midnight ridazz, 7 fixies!!!, 500 roadies, millions of spectators and miles of riding made this ride the best ride ever. There are so many stories from the ride, it's hard to explain so I'll just give you the short of it.
The hills were doable, I ate shit on day 1 and day 2, the skinny dipping was cool, the f-ing lines were long as fk, everytime I thought of giving up for the day I thought of the 80+ year old gra-ma who just passed me, the wind sucked ass at times, the costumes were unbelievable, port-a-potties nuff said, the weather was cold and then hot as hell, some roads like the f-ing freeway was so messed up I wouldn't drive my car on em, the downhills were for miles and miles but the best part was the feeling of being part of something bigger than yourself, a great traveling community of very diverse people coming together to make a difference. 11 million $$$ and counting worth of difference for people who really need it.
everyone should experience the 6 days of cycling ride called Aids Life Cycle, I'm doing it again next year. This time I'll actually train for it.
I was there in spirt.
Can we please have another GAY ride?
Ironically I was at home being very fucking sad to hear about a friend, crossing the street with her friend. They were nearly rundown as pedestrians and yelled at at and threatened with violence for being "dykes" in La Jolla.
Fuck!
