Hey....you guys could take the San Gabriel river path down to the beach. It runs roughly paralell to the 605 from the santa fe dam to the 60. you could make your way out east to arrow hwy at the santa fe dam. or you could get to valley blvd...ride through walnut and then pick up the san gabriel river trail there.
Then with either of those ways...you can just ride straight down to river path...This path lets you off on the north side of seal beach.
Damn....I wish I could remember the exact route of the 99 century.
We started just west of the 15 on riverside dr. We road to to Chino HIlls...made our way to Grand....went over the hills on Grand to Golden Springs...made a left...west...on Golden Springs., which becomes Colima. We took Colima over the hills to Whitter. I think whitter blvd...where we made a right and rode to the SAn Gavriel River path...
That part of the 99 Century will get you to where ;you need to go.
I like the San Gabriel path way better than the Santa Ana river path. It is prettier, and it seems that there are less head winds on the way daown. On the SG path, you get to see a few surprises. Overall, the SG runs further north and south than the Santa Ana path. It runs all the way to Azusa Canyon. And it is a bit further west than the Santa Ana path. It lets out at north Seal Beach....so you get out a few miles up the coast from where the Santa Ana lets out.
Hope some of this helps...
I i have some extra time today...I'll try to work up a gmap...with a good route.

Hey Riverside Ridazz, Cycledelics, et al.

ON the interactive map, the mileage at the very beginning of the route is a bit inaccurate, because I was using the "follow the road"option....and it added some mileage on Van Buren and on Riverside drive going into Chino...That said...this route is just a bit over 100 km...somwhere around 64 miles... A solid metric century.
From the time you get into Chino Hills until you get to Washington Blvd. in Whittier, you will be riding some fairly rigorous hills. That is the only hilly part of the ride. There's no point in doing a proper metric with no hills at all, right? Here's a turn by turn route slip:
Start Van Buren Blvd. and Arlington Ave. (in Riverside)
North on Van Buren
left on Etiwanda
quick right on Riverside Dr.
Pass under the 15 fwy.
Continue Through Chino.
Riverside Dr. Becomes Peyton
(when passing under the HWY 71)
Continue on Peyton to Grand Ave.
Right on Grand Ave.
Continue on Grand Ave. to Golden Springs
Left on Golden Springs
(just before the 57/60 fwy)
Golden Springs becomes Colima
Pass Brea Cyn Rd.
Pass Fairway
Pass Azusa Ave.
Pass Hacienda Blvd.
Right on Whittier Blvd.
Pass Painter Ave
Left on Washington Blvd.
Pass under 605 Fwy.
Enter San Gabriel Bike Path
(before you cross over the river
on the south side of the street)
Follow the San Gabriel path down to
the Beach.
At one point the path will end at the
convergence of two rivers (ditches)
Cross to the other side of the river
via the foot bridge. (this will be easy
as there is no other way to go.
Head out to PCH. YOu're there!
Build a sand castle or something.

ps. there is the outside chance that you will have to hop over the fence to get on the bike path at washington. Sometimes (who knows why) the gate is closed. But, I've only encountered this once.

I'm bumping this because I just spent about two hours setting up an interactive route, and writing a route slip for it. I hope cycledelics get this route, if they want to ride out to the beach today.
