Long Beach Critical Mass

Was thinking of going to Long Beach this Friday for their Critical Mass.
Is anyone interested in treking down there? Was there a week before the last Ride-Arc, found the streets to be charming. People down there say only about 10 people show up on average for the ride. SInce I don't know the streets in Long BeachI think it would be fun to ride another cities Critical mass. If anything, it will be adventuragous.
PC, 420, AidsRider 2187you all live down there. TWBG, RSR's Armadillos with no numbers or adjectives, Mr. I'am traffic Potato Man, rich2ie, FB, Jockie Troy, 4stbb, RHI&D Yel, BPA&LB, SnD's SnA's SnS's and anybody else I forgot and is interested.

I don't know if I want to be associated with those critical mass folks. They have a reputation of having political agendas and are often violent and confrontational in high-pressure situations. I think I'll just stay home and eat my cookies. I don't want any trouble. Why can't you be more pure like Midnight Ridazz? I mean, have some class! And what's with bicycles anyway? Get a SEGWAY you morons. Oh, and stay on the sidewalks. I've got Homeland Sexurity phone number! Don't make me do it!
Can we catch the metro back in time?

As the General says, we can do whatever we want. Don't kill my lingering buzz from friday night, with anymore of that "do only bicycle related things on bicycles"
Last blue lines leaves at 11:21pm. The only problem I see with this is everybody getting there by 7pm for the start time. If they started the ride at 9:30 or 10pm they would probably get alot more participants.
Its all logistics We could even take CNG burner, HYPOCRACY and blaspamy. We would have to get the 6:09 blue line (at the lastest) outta 7th St/Metro to make it by 7pm

You don't have to apologize to me for having a different opinion.
I don't know what kind of nastiness happened between you guys after I last posted in that thread, but whatever it was, you all shouldn't be fighters of one another. You should be lovers. Sweet, sweet, hot, sweaty lovers.

there was no nastiness actually. it was the way my shit was coming off. sometimes to get a point across it's better to discuss in person. I ended up just sounding shrill. basically coming across as pessimistic jerk.

The original Critical Massers were bike commuters and messengers riding home from work in San Francisco, and the whole point was to do it during "rush" hour.

Is the Long Beach Bike Mafia going to be in attendance??

Oh, well. I'm a little confused on what is going to happen.
All I know is I'm going down to long beach and I'm going to ride my bike. I'm sure it will all come together.
I still plan on meeting folks at 7th and Flower at 5:30-45.
Let's keep talking about it and I'm sure we can resolve whatever conflicts Sexy has created for us yet again...

I'm down to go.. but having ridden that specific train to do the very thing we are going to do.. at that time... well, lets just say that last time I rode it I had to hold my bike up on it's back wheel, stand in front of the door and peg some guy in the head with my front tire the entire way to the LBC because the train was so damn crowded... if we cram like a crapload of people with bikes into a car during these hours (which is the blackout hours btw- 430 - 630) we are probably going to get booted... or at the very least cussed out. I was planning on gowing down early, like 330 or so (will get you there by 430-5), then maybe getting lunch/dinner/whatever and hanging out being a bum for a couple hours before the ride starts, rather than having to play sardine in a can on the blue line.
FuzzBeast05.24.07 - 1:09 pm

ok. I can take the CNG burner if it comes down to it. David had claimed a spot and you can have one. I will have one spot open if someone speaks up. I still want to meet lahar at the station in case we change the plans. I have a folding bike in the trunk. dont worry i can handle the hills.
I should be able to fit three bikes on my rack. but two is safer.
So meet at 7th and flower. And if you guys want to take my car it will be available. perhaps it would be the best idea for coming back?...
keep talking.

Well, hanging out until the blue line starts again isnt that bad. Although last time I spent the night in Long Beach, I ended up puking of Al's roof (sorry Al), I'm hoping to represent better this time, I'm going to eat befopre bozing it up. But I'm still thinking of taking the line down earlier, dunno about getting back. This weekend is gonna be nuts anyway, I have a feeling I'll be first blue lining it home sat morning, sleeping on a sidewalk in the valley on saturday night after the surf ride, and going to the spring thing on sunday,

T,
Yes, uunfortunately the blue line will likely be pretty crowded. If you're able to get to the metro earlier we would have more options as far as how to get there. Not a lot of choices but if we get together earlier and it's just you and I the bus becomes an option. The earliest I can arrive is 5:10.
420LaHaRR05.24.07 - 3:42 pm
reply
Well, from my past experience riding the blue line during rush hour, and even not in rush hour, it's pretty busy most of the day, and is nuts during rush hour.
As for *coughsignscough* I've got something like 12 surfaces just gotta draw em out... of course this is probably my supply for the whole weekend, but we'll see.

I know most of you coming from LA going to Long Beach, went to the bike to work day celebration.. In that Little bag Enci gave you, is a METRO transit map. If you look at it, there is a bus line that goes from long beach to la , La to long beach all night long. Its called the 60
Yes folks the MTA for all there faults runs bus service along the rail line when they are not running.
The Valley to LA and LA to valley replacing the Red Line at night, has a line called #656, this runs every hour while the red line is closed.
http://www.mta.net/images/1156-656.pdf
The #60 takes about 1-1/2 to get to los angeles from Long Beach. It runs everyhour..
http://www.mta.net/images/060-360.pdf
You could probably ride it in the same amount of time, but might be too tired to do it at the end of the night

I didnt get a little bag :-(
But as I have an hour bus ride to get home anyway (from dtla), I'd rather just sit around and get drunk and wait for the train. I really don't like leaving my bike all unprotected out on the front of a bus If I have another option. It's not so bad on the bus I ride to LA which stays on the freeway the whole time... but at the stops it's always kind of a mini freakout... dont want my bike getting jacked off a bus rack.

Should of arrested you, Kyber. Yes you didn't rob anybody, but you where wearing something that looked like all black, and you where riding a bike. You fit the description. You are guilty of something, for some reason. What exactly, does not matter.
You have no idea how much restraint it took for me to not yell to the cops, what a bad guy you are, when they where checking you out.
Good thing I didn't. You might not have heard, but I did suggest that they give you one to the tigh, just for good measure, when they where letting you go. Good thing they didn't take that one to heart.

Now Roadblock, if there was ever a time for censorship (which I'am entirely oppose to), this is it. That picture, is just in poor taste. Offensive in worse way possible. Yes, I had to do it, but nobody should be subjected to seeing it.
