How many of you are unemployed or about to be unemployed? How about a ride to celebrate that great safety net known as unemployment? Or maybe we could go out en masse looking for jobs!

There was an unemployed ride and there was one person that showed up. The person doing the ride! I bet you'll get far more this time.
It has to be during a week day, in the day time.

i just got employed, but the sad thing is it's probably not gonna work out. i live in the shithole of los angeles, where the last bus line up stops at 11:46 pm. i'm gonna be working shit hours too. like getting out at 3am sometimes and waiting in DTLA until 6am to get back home.
i'mma try and stick through it. the positive side to this is i'll have so much time to run through LA and catch spots at night after work.

well i've been irregurlary unemployed, or barely employed all year...
now i have 3 gigs
m-f im a stake bed truck driver i pick up and drop off palets of metals. treated auto parts and aerospace parts on this thing
i must say my driving skills and ability to drive anything under the class "c" driver's license are amazing.
weekends i'm a clown or headed character (in character) entertaining kids at birthday parties...
some weeknights im a pizza delivery driver for papa johns in my local hood.
things are gonna be okay afterall.
all while im waiting for my high 30k a year job hiring process to go back to DISH NETWORK as a satellite installation tech.

I'm technically unemployed as of next week, but this happens pretty regularly, since I do most of my work on 1-3 month contracts. I've got a bunch of ongoing projects, so as long as the funding for climate change science is still out there, I'll be back to work soon enough. Funding is going to get tighter, though, for sure.
I can hardly complain, really. Even though I end up spending a lot of my off time doing prep work and hustling to get proposals together, the gaps between jobs mean that I get to take long holidays, like Bike Kill/Halloween in NY. This time, it's going to be Christmas in Idaho and New Year's in SF.

damn!!! i went from being barely employed to super employed. but goddamn, it's taking up all my party time away. i had to work through my hole birthday eve day and my fucking birthday day and if matters worn't worse i gotta fucking work all day tomorrow too. the second day im a year older. godamn!!! i need to have a b-day drink session and ride with some of my closes ridazz friends, hell all of you's. hell, i don't have favorites and am inclusive by nature. i love all of you's. six pack mondays, we will celebrate a belated and much needed celebration of my 36th year of existence and a big cheer n toast to the beginning of the end of my long economic recession.

Me, I'm just tired of hearing the same thing from potential trucking companies when applying for a position with them.
"Just be glad you have work, everyone else is in the poor-house right now!!"
In my case, any job where the employer refuses to pay workmans comp and flat out sticks to 1099'ing your ass is just putting you in deeper jeopardy.
After six months with these guys, I really do not care anymore.
If I have to scale back to my old position just to keep my standing safe, then it's got to be done.
Sadly, if I do this, then it'll revert to several months ago where I was only able to make it down minimally.
Cool thing though is that there is an even amount of "Chill" and "Faster" paced rides than there were at this same time last year.
So, if this "Recession Ridazz" ever comes about, we could probably use it as a brainstorming session into putting forth our own ideas on how to kick the economy back into gear!!
First order of business would be to jump start the "Deconstruction Business".
All those homes surrounding the outerlying hill-sides that are prone to fire-danger are also, probably in foreclosure and all those that owned them are now renting else where, or living with Mommy and Daddy.
We could petition for funding to be used to pay for the employment of demolition crews and dump-trucks to completely raze and manually, re-terraform the cookie-cutter landscape back to nature!!!
And then there's the issue of cheap-housing for all those that work, but can't afford a traditional house.
I say we make use of all those shipping containers that China no longer wants, and refurbish those into decent living spaces!!!
That project alone could entail many designers and house-construction experts into brainstorming projects involving "how to make this industrial piece-of-shit into home-sweet-house!!"
Then, maybe revamping the long-distance, foot/bicycle trail projects that could potentially link communities hundreds, if not thousands of miles apart from each other.
IE., a long-distance, dedicated bike path linking the Victor Valley, to the San Fernando Valley!!!
