All who would seriously like to be a part of this adventure are welcome. But it will be business time. ;)
You can see the "job help" thread for a dramatic entrance, but if you haven't time, all you need to know is that separate visions of a bike house/hostel/shop/FUNspace are coming together, and if you want to help run this sort of magic, you should come tomorrow.

Hey y'all, so, Brassknucles, Kyber, Myself, Nicole, Richie, Gopez, Steveo met last night to break some ground up and start mud wrestling.
It was a revelation.
Really, very interesting talking through everyone's ideas, situations, hopes. We are very much still just wrasslin' 'with concepts, but we ended the two hour discussion with the hope that we could get a larger space wherein three separate businesses are conducted; retail (to sell all the cool stuff y'all make and provide accessory/necessities to the multiplying cyclists out there; hostal/cafe/bar (to bring in out of towners and transport them right to the core elite ;); and event (to rent out the space to other ventures--galleries, partythrowers, music showers, and of course, free bike events!!!
So, we're going to mull for a week or two and potentially look at spaces (Steveo is on the hunt and already found one possibility) and then get back together next week.

I'm so down for this too...
not to be a 'side'ist but the westside seems like a bad option - not only is more expensive on average, but as 'bike people', most of whoom are car-less as far as i know, we need to be close to the hubs of the public transit system, particularly the light rail.
BOYLE HEIGHTS ALL THE WAY BABY. You can get craftsman-style 6-bedroom houses for cheap if ya get lucky, and it'd be like a mile to union station and all the wonderful transit it offers.

anyway, besides making a list i think you guys need to analyze that its not like a weekend trip.. you're going to living with these people. makesure you think you can live with each and everyone of them otherwise its going to be a miserable experience.

That WOULD be an epic Bike House.
But with first and last months rent, and maybe a month's rent as deposit. I'm guessing $11-16.5k would be a bit steep to come up with all at once. (Although, if you could scrape together that much dough, you could put a down payment on BUYING a place.)
I can't wait to see if you all pull this off. Few things create conflict better than discussions/issues about $, but a functioning Bike House would be awesome.
