not an official ride per se. my friends and i are getting together to ride the bike path all the way down to LB on saturday afternoon. we'll take the metro back.
we're meeting at the bike path entrance on los feliz at 12 noon. if anyone else wants to join us, please come!!
additionally, this will be our first time doing this particular route, so if there any bikepath vets out there with some tips on potential hazards or closures (or where on the web we can find up-to-date information), please let me know!
thanks!

To get to the southern part of the LA river path....you have to enter at Leonis Blvd. in Vernon....that is where the southern portion of the bike path starts up.
So heres how to get there....
Go down Alameda into Vernon.
LEFT on E. Vernon.
Vernon turns into Pacific Blvd.
LEFT on Leonis.
PASS Atalantic
just after you pass Atlantic on Leonis.....
!!!Enter the bike path on the left....just after a rail yard.
Pass under the 710 Fwy.
(the next exit is Imperial Hwy!! Pass under Imperal Hwy, turn around to Exit the path, then ride on the sidewalk to the East side of the river. You should watch for this street...just after you pass under the 710.)
Ride to the end of the path.
There you go.

+If you don't cross over to the other side of the rivier....you'll end up in San Pedro. So watch for it.

Are you talking about the bridge that goes over Los Feliz Road?

My only advice is to watch out for idiots walking their dogs on the bike path. The first time I encountered this was on the LA River Ride, with a thousand or so newbies, intermediates, and FloydLandis-wannabes hurling themselves towards the LBC at various velocities when there's a bunch of people walking their freaking pitbulls under a bridge in the middle of the path where nobody can see 'em at 25+mph.
I always knew they
baggy pants would be the death of democracy.

Hey Allen...
I google map it for you. I used the google stree view feature. It'll show you the bridge and entrance. Close the streetview window and you'll see the map.

This should help out. Man... this sounds interesting. I don't know if I would be able to hang on a ride of this distance yet.

watch out for huge potholes and gnarly dips in the trail. Shit is dangerous if you dont see it coming. I have never taken the trail all the way down to LB but for the most part the trail is in pretty shitty condition throughout the entirety of the Los Feliz heading downtown portion.

Hey Al,
You should be able to do this. If you did Rollers B day ride, this should be no sweat. I'll hang with you to the Blue Line station if you want to do this.

I'll be sure to sponsor another when I get down to that area.
I could hang with any ride as long as there are actually others around.
LA River bikepath sounds cool, but I'm still pissed off that the California Aqueduct bikepath has been, somewhat "barricaded".
Ever since 9/11, the gubmint has been paranoid towards therapists pissing in the water that flows through there.
