DalĂ: Painting & Film
October 14–January 6 | Art of the Americas Building
http://www.lacma.org/art/ExhibDali.aspx
Throughout his life and career, renowned surrealist Salvador DalĂ maintained a deep connection with film as an artistic medium. He collaborated with movie greats such as Luis Buñuel, Alfred Hitchcock, and Walt Disney, and created works influenced by Cecil B. De Mille and the Marx Brothers. DalĂ: Painting & Film, coming to Los Angeles, the epicenter of film, aims to illustrate the cinematic influences and elements that are present in DalĂ's work as well as the contribution he made to cinema. The exhibition brings together a variety of key pieces from DalĂ's oeuvre, incorporating painting, film, photography, sculpture, and texts
The show at LACMA is amazing, I think I may go again. I saw it opening weekend so it was fairly crowded, might be nice to see at a off time and spend more time with each piece. Loved seeing Dali drawings on animation paper for the Disney exhibit.

Of course I'm going to represent; it's going through my town. I was just wondering whether people were aware that this is an actual bike ride, or if they just thought this thread was for posting multimedia. Destino!

I'm really tempted, as its starting in long beach (where I live), although getting home might suck.....but 40 miles would make it my longest ride ever.....think I can cut it?
Please post where this ride ends.
I live near L.B. and plan to attend, but if we end up in some other part of the basin, I will need to figure out how to get back home afterward.
See you tonight!
for those of you taking the blue line,
exit the last stop, go south on Pine and when you get to shoreline park go through the park and to the right, you'll pass the aquarium of the pacific and end up at the lighthouse (not the light house restaurant)
Say I coming from LA to this ride, IS THERE ANY RIDERS GOING BACK HOME TO LA so we all can ride back in a group...peace couse I m not familiar with LB at all
Man....I have one of those tubes with the bright green cap....the one with sold with tire sealant..."slome" already in it.
I wanted to add some air, but the last time I added air, some of the slime got into the valve stem. I tried to use pliars, broke the stam and sent slime all over the front porch.
No problem, I sitll have another tube. I put that one on my wheel, and could it hear that it was going flat. I guess the slime stuff worlded and something was in my tire.
Still...I can get by. I have a patch kit. The fucking glue is dried up on my patch kit.
Here is the upshot. I am unprepared to get out to you guys tonight. I can't get to a bike shop for another tube. My patch kit is spent.
I'm sure someone has a patch kit with them...the only problem is getting to you. Man...I am so frustrated, I feel like breaking something. I'm sorry guys....I'm gonna have to bow out of this one.
Great course, Danny!
The full moon, clear vistas and good attatude of all the riders made this an enjoyable all nighter.
I would have faired better on the hills had I brought my multi-gear bike, but I learned a lot about riding a single speed on hills for sure!!
P.C. is my hero, doing this on a fixie and kicking my butt in the process. he's in damn good shape for a dude who spends all his time behind a computer...ha!
I just recently woke from my coma, and I do have to say Destino Ride has truly spoke, for its name!
Great rout Zuko, climbing up to the Palos Verdes Estates was extraordinary amazing, with every stoke of the crank….looking forward to the next torment!
Awesome ride Danny, if a bit longer in duration then expected. Great views, and lots of surreal moments befitting the theme. Like being chased down by flying sunday newspapers. Where's my two dollars?!! And the sunrise of specular colors courtesy of the chemical spewing smoke stacks in Long Beach.
To User1: Top speed on downhill was 45.5 mph for me.
Gary,
Your data is awsome. I printed it out for the archive I am creating.
3 hours and 34 minutes riding, 4 hours and 50 minutes sitting around. That has to be a record! Next time I'll bring beer for the down time.
