LA Brakeless good service

Yo, just had to give due respect to LA Brakeless in Culver City, the new fixie-oriented bike shop. I wanted some toe-clips, and the shop is close by so I stopped in for the first time.
I mentioned I could use a bigger front ring on my bike and the owner Dave just gave me one and offered to put it on right then and there for me, free of charge (swapped a useless 40 for a 56 tooth). He wouldn't take a tip. Not that it's complicated, but he also took the time to make sure my toe clips were put on correctly.

Do they have a website or do you have a street address, next time I'm down I may go see them.

Those guys do a regular weekly ride. Mostly youngsters on fixies, but they were cool to all. I had fun rolling with them. Definitely not the typical LA tude on this ride.

I lived next door to Dave & Anna (LA Brakeless owners) for a couple of years.... and anna would cook me dinner after I'd worked a 12 hour shift.
They are just GOOD PEOPLE.

Allen,
What was different between their rides and MR rides. I thought about maybe doing a ride with them, but we'll see.
After hearing what some of the people have said about them it seems like I'm going ot have to bug them and O20.

Their rides are not supported or run by the shop. The ridazz just meet at the shop before ridin. The ridazz themselves I don't think have ever heard of "hold your line". The first time I had a kid swear in front of me to get to the walk button to trigger the lights, it was a bit unnerving. I kept a little more distance between me an them after that. They were fun to roll with and like I said, friendly. They weren't very fast paced or anything like that. Rolled about 18 miles.

Is Dave the guy with the killer Scottish accent? I walked in there the other day on my to the liquor store and thanked him for fixing my back wheel. Ill also be leaving a block from there soon so I had to check it out. Seems cool and I'm glad they're getting good reviews from you.too bad I'm not a fixie rider.

I originally posted this thread. I'm not a fixie rider either. I guess I should have mentioned that. I ride a road bike that's a one gear (single-speed) free wheel bike. Not sure I'll ever fully embrace the fixie. I ride too much fast road geared and mtn bike to cope with making the mental switch all the time to fixie. Plus, variety is good. Anyway, point is, the service and person attention was great, and I don't think you need to exclusively be a hard-core fixie rider to drop in there for service, parts, advice, etc

Tomas tried to straighten it but was too jacked up....I had to buy the new rim at Helen's on Lincoln.

I don't know another store even outside of the bicycle industry that has better service than these guys. They also have the most convenient hours for those who work late. I live a block away from this place too. thanks for everything. -carlos

HAHA. George did barspins on my beach cruiser....LAB is a great shop with great people. I went to Cycle World once and started asking questions about fixies.... they told me to talk to LAB even though cycle world had fixies to sell in their own shop.
