... to driving a car? how and why?
reply
Thursdays, to work, because of street sweeping... But it gives me an opportunity to get groceries on the return trip.
Otherwise, when I'm going out of town/errands and riding a bike is out of the question (ie large loads, or big distances)...

this is a good question, though i must say it is phrased in a one-sided manner.
cars aren't necessarily bad, they are just easily abused, like guns and drugs.
huh?

Sometimes I think people get the impression I can bike infinitely, but every so often I do actually use my car. On average this comes out to be about two or three days a month not counting moving the car to the other side for street cleaning. If they ever actually make the metro line to the west side, then I might drive even less.

If I bothered to replace my car after killing it, I would probably drive it. As it is, I haven't bothered.

A vehicle only serves me for long trips.
Especially the ones where I could avoid the miles upon miles of nothingness.

Last time i drove someone else's car, I totaled the car, along with some other guy's car.
Good thing i don't have my own car.

I thiink I haven't used it in 4 or 5 months. Sometimes i look at it and feel slightly sorry for abandoning it. I know it has feelings and all, but I just have way more fun on my bike.
How can one resist having an unsurmountable load of FuN ?
Yaaadeee daddeee daa.
It gets cold out sometimes, that's why I like wearing hats and mittens.

I park my car in the covered garage at work in El Segundo. Sometimes I go a week and a half between driving it... I take the redline blueline greenline mostly and ride one day a week via bicycle.
I will be riding tomorrow, I should text up Moody and see if he'll ride with me. anyone else heading hollywood to ballona creek? I'm leaving at 8:00am sharp
I just bought a re-fillable airhorn....
I hope I dont have to use it. it's fucking loud.

will you be at the next crank mob ride?? i can give ya one then.
i used some small hose clamps and a black water cage to attach it to the back of the bike... everyone thinks its a fire extinguisher and holds i guess 3times the capacity of the regular airhorn
a friend of mine used two of the half gallon smart water tanks and clamped them underneath a front basket on his beach cruiser... he painted them flat black.. wow they look like huge bombs on a jet fighter

So Boogaloo (just so I'm understanding correctly), did you use the standard airhorn pieces and just replace the bottle? Great idea!

I had to go to court one here in LB and there was this guy in a wheelchair selling papers there. I saw he had a horn like I had, which is the Airzound above^^^, but he had his connected to a 2 liter bottle. Light weight and lasted aaallllllllllllll day and then some. I thought it was pretty cleaver really.
