Thread Box:
detox
Thread started by Frozen Fingersss at 03.24.09 - 9:56 am

i'm doing that fasting thing where all you drink is water with cayenne pepper, lemon and grade B maple syrup.

has anyone done it? if so can you tell me your experience.
i haven't eaten since friday and its been pretty easy but i just woke up feeling very tired and a little lightheaded.

i'm not doing this to lose weight, i just want to cleanse my body and such. ive searched around online but ive been reading so many different things i wanted to get a ridazz perspective if any of you have tryed it.

also will biking be super difficult? i havent been biking far distances the past few days due to other factors so i'm hoping it wont be too much of a problem.

p.s. i'm ignoring all trolls. i really just want some information.

MASTER CLEANSER!

I reecommend getting The Book. I got mine at Nature Mart on Hillhurst in Los Feliz.

There are some tips in there that get left out when you get the master cleanser instructions via oral history.

You should be fine riding you bike.

My friend just finished doing 8 or 9 days and said she had a remarkable amount of energy. Was surprised to be so awake without coffee.

Most important: be very careful how you break the fast,
You should spend as many days breaking the fast as you do on the fast. There is a whole routine he recommends including taking diluted OJ, veggie broth, then soups, and eventually all veggie solids.

GOOD LUCK - stay strong.

READ THIS ONE.....I hate when I forget to close a tag

I sent a link to bigsexxy of this thread. She is concluding it this Wednesday.

What I can tell you from what she has told me

is that she and others had bad headaches the first three days but it went away on the fourth day.

After that third day the hunger pains went away.

She did get stomach pains for the salt water flush in the morning.
You might want to make sure you are at home the first couple of days to have the bathroom close by. After the 2nd day I believe it was just mucus and little bit of waste coming off the inside here and there. Still stuff was coming out.

She said her hearing and vision become more crisp and clearer.

She had watched some you tube videos of people that had gone through it and found them very helpful and inspiring. I know your not doing it to lose weight, but this is the link she sent me and there are others videos on this page.

I found it to be a really good for her in so many ways, observing her and being around her from the outside of how it has affected her.

Good luck

Enjoy your lemonade!

I know lots of women that have done it for 5-10 days.
My friend who just finished 8 days is a women.
She would have done 10 but got in a bike wreck (rear ended by a inattentive cyclist on a ride) and went to the hospital.

After getting anesthesia and drugs from the doctor she figured it was time to start breaking the fast.

The best way to detox is to eat high fiber antioxidant rich organic fruits and vegetables and drink lots of water.

Your body already has a pretty kickass detox program.

It's called your liver / digestive system.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/4616603.stm

'No proof' detoxing diets work
Detox diets do no more than the body's own natural system to get rid of toxins, US researchers claim.

People have been "detoxing" for thousands of years, but the scientists say there is no proof that such bodily purges work.

And they say most modern books and detox kits serve up "empty promises".

Writing in Food Technology, experts from the University of Southern California repeat the advice that a balanced diet is best.

“ The suggestion that elimination of noxious agents is enhanced because of this regimen is categorically unsubstantiated ”
Professor Roger Clemens and Dr Peter Pressman

In a commentary in the journal, they say detox plans promise all kinds of results; from cell cleansing to skin revitalisation, colon decontaminating and liver purging.

To do this, people are told to have a restricted diet of fruit and vegetables and lots of water.

Caffeine, alcohol and processed foods are banned.

'Extraordinary systems'

Roger Clemens, professor of molecular pharmacology and toxicology at the University of Southern California and Dr Peter Pressman, an endocrinologist at private medical firm Geller, Rudnick, Bush and Bamberger say many have reported detoxing worked for them.

They write: "There are thousands of testimonials that describe experience of less bloating (actually the result of eating less food), clearer skin (improved hydration) and decreased headaches (reduced alcohol and caffeine)."

But they say the benefits people feel are not due to their body getting rid of excessive toxins.

"The suggestion that elimination of noxious agents is enhanced because of this regimen is categorically unsubstantiated and runs counter to our understanding about human physiology and biochemistry."

They say the improvements detoxers see are instead due to changing from what is likely to have been a "poor" diet.

And they stress the body is designed to "detox" itself.

"Healthy adults, even overweight adults, have been endowed with extraordinary systems for the elimination of waste and regulation of body chemistry.

"Our lungs, kidneys, liver, gastrointestinal tract and immune system are effective in removing or neutralising toxic substances within hours of consumption."

They warn that detoxing can be dangerous for groups such as teenagers or pregnant women, who cannot afford to deprive themselves of food groups.

'No definition'

Ursula Arens, a registered dietician and spokeswoman for the British Dietetic Association said: "'Detox' is a meaningless term that is used all the time.

"And because it hasn't been defined, it's impossible to say if it's worked or if it hasn't."

She added: "All food is made up of chemicals, and all our body does with food is a chemical reaction.

"The body is set up to deal with the chemicals it doesn't want, and excrete them."

Claire Williamson, a nutrition scientist at the British Nutrition Foundation, added: "No single food can provide all the nutrients that the body needs, and therefore it is important to consume a balanced and varied diet in order to obtain adequate amounts of energy, protein, vitamins, minerals and fibre required for good health.

"Cutting out complete food groups in the long term, may have adverse effects on an individual's health."

i also know plenty of women whove done it for longer than 5 however when i went to buy the products at whole foods i asked a lot of questions. i was told that it was unhealthy for females to do it for more than 4-5 days by the staff there and at this health food place near my house where i also inquired on the subject....something to do with reproductive organs...which im actually not super worried about but didn't know if you were. i'll see if i cant google it and find some more info

fingerz,

i really don't think this is a healthy thing to do. there's no such thing as a detox.

eat healthy and drink lots of water and you'll be fine.

the only thing this "diet" is gonna do is make you barf everything up through ur butt which im sure you've been doing. ur getting dehydrated.

if you wanna clean out ur insides as far as poo wise, go get a colonic. its not too expensive and its kinda cool watching ur poo float by through a tube.

if you're concerned that much,

don't smoke
don't drink alcohol or caffeine
don't take any kind of drugs
don't eat processed foods
drink lots of water
exercise regularly.

or just find some kind of balance you can live with.
starving yourself now and then isn't going to make you any healthier.

actually my cleanse went very well.

i broke it last night because i wanted to eat for at least a day before 328.

and actually, cleanse's are very healthy for your body IF you do them right. i was not dehydrated nor was i "puking" through my ass.

i was drinking TONS of water and i also made a pot of vegetable broth to drink so that I was still getting minerals. Plus green-tea!

I felt hungry, sometimes lightheaded and tired in the morning which went away within an hour once i started drinking the water mixture.

i feel great, and will be doing this again in the future if need be, but its a great way to start eating healthy and keeping it that way.

i did it for a total of 6 days. thanks for the information and support you guys.

nice job bigsexxy!
