glendale by bike is scary, whether during the day with drunk armenian drivers or at night with drunk armenian drivers. be careful and use that mace of your sparingly.
All metro trains are running 24/7 on New Years Eve and New Years Day. So if you use the Gold Line at 2AM or 3AM, they won't care how many bikes are on the train.
I have work that day, so 2pm definitely wont work. I can probably get off by 3pm and get to the ride by 4pm, but I'm sure many more won't be so lucky.
Also, I'm a fan of using public transportation minimally. On the last Robots ride, we charmed a bunch of people on the train, but we also pissed a few of them off, and some guy even seemed like he wanted a reason to start a fight. Probably all the more likely on New Years.
So if you want to get to Pasadena, why not just ride all the way to Union Station? It's only a little further, but we'll only have to jump on one train, instead of two. (Personally, I'd rather ride the whole route, but that might not be practical.)
As for the the return route, you're totally safe doing Pasadena to Highland Park to Eagle Rock to Atwater. That's an awesome roll with bike-friendly streets and all neighborhoods are chill with bikes. I'd avoid Glendale at all costs.
It really is amazing how dangerously people drive as soon as you cross the city line.
All things considered, perhaps the best idea would be to post stops for latecomers/eastsiders who want to join later on?

Are we riding the train to Pasadena or biking? I used to do it all the time on my roadie mountain bike when I lived there. East on Cezar Chaves -> North on Mission -> Northeast on Huntington (for a long while) -> North on Allen -> Colorado Blvd.
Just had one on Sunday before heading out to Azusa Canyon for a little dirt bike riding with XL Jr., ummmm sure was good!! Don't forget about the chili fries as well!!!
Sup Mr E-Boy, you down to meet us on Wed for some parade route antics? 5pm Memorial Station?
What time we riding through the parade route? I rode it last New Years Eve at 21:00+ and got a bunch of shit thrown at me — in the face. I quickly found a less entertaining route.
DAMN... tacos, burritos, man sausages, cake fighting, angry mass transit idiots, KEWL mass transit patrons, a who knows where we'll be & when we'll be there ride ..... and then toast in the New Year! TT. XL. Caeser. Uncle. YOU GUYZ ROCK!! And the trains are FREE Wednesday night... 8 pm (?) til 2 am (?).
Thanks to everyone for joining Taco Tuesdays along the way, the parade route was a definite win and we will do a ridazz camp next year, but keep your eyes posted for the T.T. Doo Dah Ride.
