How about doing something like this at a pedestrian crosswalk one day at let's say SMCM. All of us get in one line and cross... those that made it across... come back. Talk about creating traffic. Would that be considered blocking traffic? Or just a good way to piss of drivers...
Description: 100 persons stop traffic, just crossing the road. An action by TrafficKills . com Community in collaboration with TrafficKills Torino Meetup http://traffickills . meetup . com/ Massa Critica Torino Bicycle Film Festival Milano

Canadians are 100,000,0000 times more polite than we are...
Good luck.

We did this on Main for awhile at the last SMCM but something that was better thought out with a few more participants would be ideal. There were only about 15 of us participating, and there must be a better intersection in Santa Monica.

We should be loving people out of there cars instead of being so arrogantly rude to them. More love = more fun = more people on bikes.
Lets get some prophylactics and start making love to all the drivers!

THAT'S F****G AMAZING!
I like that all those people came together to orchestrate that. I wonder how long that would last on the streets of SM?

Isn't Torino in Italy?
And doesn't "polite" in the title refer to the bikers and pedestrians taking over the streets? The cars are stopping not out of politesse. More likely out of fear of getting a reckless endangerment charge or whatever. Or killing someone. That never feels good.
Well. Rarely.

Great video!
This reminds me of a video I saw once, tried to find it but couldn't, where there was about a hundred people crossing the street at cross walk. They were all dressed rather bizarre. One guy had a diving suit on, another was a swimmer, another in a house coat, etc, etc. They filmed the reactions from the drivers sitting there. They WERE amused. It was filmed in Europe somewhere too.

There are some non signalized cross walks on Wilshire in Santa Monica that would be ideal.
I wouldn't recommend doing this is LA. When you're riding in a group ride we block traffic just because there are so many of us. We cork intersections for safety reasons. When you do this you're doing it just as a display of power.
Now,
I dig digablesoul's suggestion of doing this in SM again. The reason is that SM has been shitting on us for - count them -
TEN months. SMPD has given bogus tickets, checked fixit tickets as not fixit, and buzzed the ride dangerously. They've treated us as if SMCM is intentionally disruptive - it isn't.
Maybe they should get a taste of what intentionally disruptive and perfectly legal looks like.

I think if we do this, we should park our bikes some where off to the side and walk the crosswalks.
