LOS ANGELES CURRY FEST
OFFICIAL WEBSITE
From MTA's Website:
Stimulate your senses and experience different kinds of meals, desserts, and snacks that are made with curry. Find unique and special curry ingredients from around the world. Participants also can learn how to make easy and flavorsome curry dishes and desserts demonstrated by star chef Jet Tila and others.
The L.A. Curry Festival will be held together with the Fifth Annual Thai New Year’s Day Songkran Festival, which is the largest Thai community celebration in the United States.
The festival will create an authentic Thai ambiance with Thai dance performances, Thai costume competition, Thai boxing, and booths that sell Thai crafts and Thai food. Hours will be Sunday, April 13, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Parking will be limited so avoid traffic and parking hassles, by taking public transit.
The festival is within walking distance of the Metro Red Line Hollywood and Western station. Metro Bus Lines 217, 717, 180, 181, 206, 217 also serve the area. Metro fares are $1.25 for a one-way ticket and $5 for an all day pass. Passes can be purchased on board Metro Buses or at Metro Rail station ticket vending.
BETTER YET >> RIDE YOUR BIKE!
By the way, for the record, the graphic design of the poster sucks! Please don't get me started.

Not to hijack your thread Trick, but i just wanted to comment on the :
"BETTER YET >> RIDE YOUR BIKE! "
I went to the Red Sox vs. Dodgers game on Saturday with 115,300 other fans. The official website for the game/coliseum suggested people car pool, take the Metro, bus, etc. but no where did they suggest riding bikes! People are still not thinking that way yet. My friend and i rode in and out between long lines of cars with no waiting and secured our bikes to a fence right next to the entrance. I only saw one other bike the whole night.
Yay for Curry and Thai food!
Thanks for posting this. i wasn't aware of it.

Someone should organize a "Curry Ride". A ride to the curry festival.

Riding to dodger stadium is the best!
I'm pretty sure that I can do it at least 30 mins faster (door to seats) from east hollywood than by bike than by car.
Yeah they are pretty dumb for them to not have lots of bike racks.

The Curry Festival is about 3 blocks from my place so I'll have to be party of the welcoming committee.

I love Curry, but the variety from the Indian sub continent mostly. THai is good too though. I have not found a decent ruby murray in LA so far. In New Your 'Utsav' is excellent!!
yum yum!!

@limeyfly
-You're probably used to the same type I've been eating for awhile.
I'm not 100% sure of what variant my mom usually cooks, but being a Malaysian, we usually get a different mix and influx of all world spices into our recipe books.

Too late!
I wanted to be just like Harry. So I went out and ordered fish and chips. It turned into a disaster. I tried to order with my fake English accent and they couldn't understand a thing. I even tried the typical insults, wanker, fuckin cunt, etc, etc, they couldn't understand a word I was saying. I had to point like some retard.
I'm going to have to study Harry much closer.

I was just thinking it sucks that I'm missing the curry festival, but then I looked out the window and realized I'm living a month long curry festival and I'll probably get a little sick of it before I get home
So far, I have yet to have a bad curry over here. Speaking of which, its lunch time.

I'll stick up a thread pointing to india trip content once I've generated some. I was in London over the weekend and didn't get to India until yesterday. So far, I haven't seen anything except the road betwen hotel and office. I'm also pretty hammered by jetlag, so I'm not sure I'm going to have the energy to go out for the bike ride I was planning this evening, but if I do, I should have pics up tomorrow, somewhere.
I did take this snapshot of the motivation poster that is stuck on just about every wall in the offices here -->

Time to go down to the local, Asian store and get me the right ingredients.
Powder, coconut milk, lemongrass, onions, tater's, whole chicken, did I mention lemons?, to prep the classic I always cook up.

I am a big fan of the S&B golden curry.
Its super easy and makes a big gravy-like curry stew that really sticks to your ribs.
