Mother's Day tale

Since I don't have a blog, I have to share my inspirational slice of life stories here, especially if they're bike related.
My Mom mentioned to me a little while back that she'd like to try riding a bike sometime. Now, keep in mind that my Mom, while in pretty decent health, is 79 years old and hasn't been on a bike since way before I was born, but who am I to deny my dear old Mum her wish?
I wasn't quite sure at first how to make this a reality, but eventually a plan came to me. So Alice and I took our respective Mom's to Venice Beach yesterday where I was able to rent a tandem, got my Mom situated as stoker and off we went, tooling around the bike path for almost two hours. She had a blast and I felt rather good about the whole thing myself.
Thanks for letting me share.

What a great story, Rollers. A tandem is the only way to go in this situation. Mom is safe from crashing, and she keeps up with you the whole way!
I took my cousin on a recent Spoke 'n Art ride. He hadn't been on a bike in 40 years. We started out a little wobbly, but after 10 miles he was doing fine. He said he'd like to do it again!

Watch out Rlrz. Moms is going to want to come out all the time.
Don't take her on Critical Mass, my Dad fell in love with the ride.
Like Father like Son
Mom might be alright on her own. My Dad did it in Dementia for a year and half, and then started running into things, then it was tandem time.
Boogaloo, I don't know what you and Moms is eating, but your complexions look terrible, all black and scratchy.

That is such a good idea!! My mom has been wanting to come on midnight rides, but she hasnt ridden a bike since before I was born either. I'm going to steal your brilliant idea and take her to Venice and maybe build her up to the midnight rides slowly. Thanks for sharing that lovely story!

Dear Mama Rollers,
You have done a great job with Mr. Rollers, I look up to him, not just because he's really tall but because I respect him and think he's an awsome person. The world needs more people like him.
Dear Mr. Rollers, South Bay Cruisers is a great ride for introducing someone into night group rides, thank you for sharing, you've put a smile on my face.
