"The Bicycle Ride"

Albert Hofmann has died, today I think, at age 102. He was the Swiss chemist who first synthesized Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) at Sandoz Laboratories in Basel back in 1938. Five years later he accidently dosed himself, which resulted in the first ever Acid Trip.
This short animated film is dedicated to him. It's called -

What a shame he died.
Let's all drop acid and ride bikes now, AMIRITE??

Yeah, really. HE WAS SO YOUNG! It just goes to show that psychedelic drugs are dangerous and will shorten your lifespan.

hahaha, actually they are dangerous. not all of us have strong enough psyches or nerves to handle psychadelic drugs. but fuck it if you guys need the liquid i can get it easy !
But we already missed international bicycle day. (Day after earth day i beleive.) The day he took his first trip on his bici.

Yeah, 4/19, the day of my poker ride. I still feel bad that I usurped the day from another Rida who wanted to do a bicycle day ride.
Next year the poker ride is on 3/28 so no conflict with bicycle day.

Wow, holy shite, 102! I don't think it occurred to me that he was even still around.
This thread is totally bike related - read the history.
Now I'm regretting not riding a bike while under the influence of LSD.

rollerzz,
it's not too late.
it's better to regret something you did than something you didn't do.

Is that a current, or recent picture of the guy?
If so, then he must've led a pretty, good life despite the accidental dope-age.

Yes, thanks, that's true . . . just wishing I had done it back then. In the days I was taking LSD, walking was my primary conveyance.

As someone who hypothetically may have ridden a bicycle under the influence of said psychedelic substance, I'd just like to point out that you are better off at the velodrome. Responding to the traction conditions of mountain biking is a tad difficult and traffic is just an all-around bad idea. A velodrome would have been incredibly entertaining, though. Hypothetically, I wish I'd had access to one back when I was hypothetically tooling around on a bicycle while tripping.
Hypothetically speaking, anyway

Anyone that claims they rode on acid, never was even tripping. If you were, you would have wreaked in the first two blocks.
Way back in my days of "experimenting", we were in SF tripping and we had to wait about two hours in a park cause we were too scared to cross the road. We didn't want to get run over! Now that's tripping!

I used to drive on acid all the time. I said USED TO, so shut up. It was like playing a video game. How much different can it be on a bike?

Yeah, that reminds me of the time I crossed the street (back when cars would actually stop when you stepped into a crosswalk); it felt like it took about an hour to cross four lanes and the street was tipping back and forth at 45 degree angles. When we finally made it across I turned to my friend (who wasn't high) and said, "Did you see that?' and she said, "See what?"
