Memorial Day Ride?

Surprised I don't see any special rides for Memorial day. Am I missing something?
I missed Pier Pressure this month, and I was thoroughly dismayed.
Like the sad rocks of a waveless shore, I sat at work on the second Saturday excessively distressed at my inability to suppress my obsession–but I digress... I pronounce once more my love for a certain kind of ride and all that it helps me endure.
A smooth stroll against an easy shore with kind folk would be such a wondrous way to reconcile my lament for the abstracted times lost that will never be found again.
Who else wants to ride? Let's get it going. If there is any interest in a Memorial Day ride (extra on the chill and remembrance) starting at Santa Monica pier, let me know–I will spin together some verbiage and post it up.

There is a memorial day ride.
It starts on Saturday when we ride to Huntington Beach.
It doesn't stop.
It rides to Spring Thing in Van Nuys on Sunday.
It doesn't stop.
It rides to Wolfpack Hustle.
Then it stops,
and barfs.

The tentative route has been posted. Hopefully people can handle this one without barfing :)
Forecast is a high of 61 and Sunny. Bring a jacket! I am bringing a frisbee to toss in the grassy areas of the Venice Boardwalk, too.
Would be awesome to have some music along the ride- anyone interested in supplying tune-age???

The timing of this ride is nice, just about when I start to get up.
I'd be down for bringing my speaker, but if you want patriotic music then you'll have to bring that on your ipod. Unless you consider deaththrash patriotic, in which case there will be much patriotism indeed.
ALSO, CAN SOMEONE RECOMMEND A PLACE I CAN GET THE AMERICAN FLAG ON STUFF? I'd like an American flag bandana, American flag stuff to put in my spokes, red-white-and-blue tassles for my handlebars, and an American flag I can wear as a cape. If I can find a pair of American flag underwear I will also not be wearing pants on this ride. KTHX!

There's an army/navy surplus store on Venice and Motor. They probably have a bunch (flag kerchiefs, I'm thinking).
Also, there's Robinson' Beautilities, on Venice at Grand View, which might have some stuff (though probably more expensive -- they have like serious stage-quality costumes as well as cheepie things).
AANNNDND there's the 99¢ store on Washington Blvd. and Wade, right where Washington Blvd and Washington Place split (at the west side, not the east part where they come back together again).

Wow, didn't read the no-pants part. I can't make this ride. Whether or not you are wearing pants is of no direct consequence to me. I just know where to get costume supplies in the area. What? I go to C.R.A.N.K. MOB a lot.

vlad that is awesome that you are bringing a sound implementation!!
i can make a playlist or other people are welcome to bring their tunes too.
jonnyboy05.26.08 - 2:30 am

YES! Please do make a playlist. I'm 100% serious when I say that I'll only have metal.
Katie, thank you for the suggestions! Esp about the surplus store, I still didn't know there was one nearby.

Anyone riding in from the E side? K-town, Hollywood, Fairfax district?

vladster, it occurs to me that these stores might be closed today, especially the army/navy surplus. (It's, like, a felony for an army/navy surplus store to be open on a day reserved for remembering fallen soldiers.) The 99¢ store is probably your best bet. Also, it's rad. So much good stuff in that joint.

No, I was scared by the threat of no pants. (Kidding!) No, I just need to get some shit done at my house. Shit that involves posting on this site, apparently.
Call me when you're dunzo, though -- you've been back in town how long and I haven't seen my Complicated Relationship partner?? That's fucked up.

Thanks Jon for organizing this ride. It was a nice, chill ride that was the perfect way to end a three day weekend. Too bad we lost one of the riders when he fell and bent his rim, but other than that incident it was awesome. Weather was perfect! That's why we live here.
Great people too on this ride. See you all at the LACM.
Also I will try to get the video up soon off Jared and the guys riding that
bicycle cab.

Organizing a ride is no easy task, that is for sure.
The greatest reward was seeing all the smiles and friendly faces having a good time. I hope to make it to LACM, I haven't been able to in a while.
Thanks again everyone who came out!
Caesar salads for everyone!!

Thanks jonnyboy for putting this ride together. If it wasn't for you a bunch of us wouldn't have had a thing to do on Memorial Day. Gawd, we would have had to make up stuff to do ourselves! Thanks for an end to a wonderful weekend.
