The Bad Idea Ride: Hypno-Corona?
Can I get more info? Any idea of what pace your are going to keep?
About what time do we get into Long Beach?
Let me know, Thanks,
XL

Hi XL,
To use bikeboom vernacular, the Bad Idea Ride is classified as "Road: slower, Social". Looking back over recent rides, It seems entirely possible that we'll keep a pace of 10 miles per hour on average.
So it's 81 miles into Anaheim, so that would be an 8 AM arrival, and if you choose the LB/Westminster BL or LB/PCH options, you'll get in at 10 or 11 AM.
This ride is definitely less briskly paced than the various weeknight ambles that criss-cross our great southern ca region.
In the past we've had slower riders and faster riders. The faster riders usually hang back an then make a point of turning down the option of a transit trip back, saying something like "No train for me, I'm going to complete the ride". We have convinced riders who are markedly slower or in physical pain to peel off the ride in the past. If you are slower, you might want to bring a friend along so you can split off into a mini-ride.
Your ride leader rides at a medium pace, and without external influences, the ride will be lead at a medium pace.

This is the best bad idea yet!
I've been on some of the others, and this could probably beat them in being a bad idea.
Alex does a great job in coming up with the worst ideas. I'm sure this will not disappoint.
Look forward to rolling with ya guys!
I'm going to start covering my commitments and say there's a 99% chance I'll be there. Cover my bets is best option!

Lance,
There's nothing to fret over! I'll be celebrating Richie's, Fluffa's, rockintothrice, and brassknuckle's burfday on
Saturday at the beach. Richie is just trying to get two birthday celebrations! LOL

the forecast tonight is for rain.
It would be a bad idea to go out for a long ride tonight, I think.
so it's totally on.

That was a pretty great ride. The route and lack of traffic was so nice it wasn't really a bad idea after all. Although booking it to Anaheim from our last rest stop to catch the 8am Amtrak, while forgetting I have an expired drivers license and couldn't purchase a ticket was a bad idea. I could of just took my time and caught the Metrolink at 10 or even rolled to Long Beach. I ended up getting a cab back to downtown, an expensive bad idea.

Thanks for posting up this ride Alex. I had an awesome time and it was just what the doctor ordered! No drinky and get some miles in for once!
I too am wondering what happened to Greg or Craig, sorry I forgot the chap's name. We did wait for you dude. We even went back a bit after waiting 20-30 minutes. Hope you got home ok.
The route was great and took me to places I've never been before.
Great job Alex!

Yes,
This was one of the best bad ideas.
The gods were with us, but not with Craig.
Craig? Where were you? We wondered if you went to the all nude club we passed just outside of Claremont.
Craig, it was my fault that we dropped you, people kept asking me about waiting up for you, but I kept telling them that we'd wait for you at the next turn. But the next turn was like 7 miles away, and by the time we got there, no Craig.
I offered to go into the all nude strip club and look for you. I had 100 dollars. I was going to look for you as long as the 100 dollars lasted.
dert:
Taking a cab was a bad idea... I am so sorry we let you take that taxi from the finish point just because Amtrak doesn't dig the IDs.
You weren't al qeda, and I should have told them that.
I did love the poo smell in South Chino's Dairy district.
You?
