If you would like to complain about your treatment by SMPD on the Alphabet Soup ride there is an easy way to do this. Mihai pulled the SMPD's online complaint form code and reversed engineered it for SMCM. You can submit a complaint online -
just fill it out and click send - and if you do it through Mihai rather than SMPD we can help keep track of their follow through.
You should complain if you feel the enforcement was heavy handed or unjustified. Police Departments are required to investigate complaints, so if law enforcement is faced with a blizzard of paperwork everytime they do this watch commanders will be disinclined to devote a bunch or resources to rides.
Mihai's form - does the same thing but helps us keep track of the complaints
SMPD's form
For those of you who read this far - a treat: As I write this email I sit directly behind Santa Monica Police Chief Timothy Jackman at a Santa Monica City Council meeting.

Complain away, just make sure you have a legit reason for doing so. If you witnessed something that seemed out of place during our interaction w/ the SMPD but you're not 100% sure, then post on this thread and see if others can enlighten you with their knowledge of traffic law.

Well, not sure if I should be sure about this, but isn't it strange that SMPD is more worried about giving petty citations to the cyclists rather than enforcing the safety of drunk drivers- one of which hit two people at the ride?

BAM, there's a complaint right there. Anyone care to recount the whole story, how long did SMPD take to respond to the scene, etc?

Last time I'll bump this. I'm confused - I wasn't there but from what I heard people were upset with SMPD and a number of tickets were given. To me, if I was ticketed, bam --> complaint. I guess Ridazz just aren't that way = y'all are content to take it lying down? Good luck with that.
