I'm always concerned about cars going the same direction on my left lane turning suddenly into the right lane in front of me without even looking. It happens a lot.
I find that a lot of drivers look absolutely confused when I am making a left turn in an intersection like they don't know that bikes are even allowed to do that.
And I'm finding that most drivers interpretation of "Share the Road" means that the cyclists should know to get as far right into the gutter as possible and not cause cars to slow down.
Best way to teach drivers is for them to see more cyclists on the streets.
A doc/mockumentary format involving either actual collision victims, or fictional victims of a fictional, yet hard-hitting accident would suffice.
It would probably look even more dramatic if it was done in the styling of one of those A/E Network, Real-Crime drama's.
Please mention about the a-hole drivers that insist on passing you even though you're coming up to a stop light/stop sign. Only to end up passing them up ahead. I've even had MTA bus drivers do that to me. Stopped cars ahead and he just has to pass me only to hit the brakes and stop ahead. Freakin idiots!
Also mention that the drivers WANT to see more bikes on the road. If they were to total it up, the drivers would see less traffic on the road. Which makes their drive that much more manageable. Also ask them if they would rather see these bikers driving or see more bikers on the road when you mention that they alleviate traffic congestion.
