Finally… it is done and said. I will join you at 8pm on Saturday the 10th of Nov for the night ride along with my adventurous pals… some of which have made this ride before and are excited to ride it again with us. Some of them haven’t ridden to San Diego but are excited to meet the challenge. My beautiful GrisLightning shall standby vigilantly for my “MedEvac” needs shall I require it… at least I hope she will. Nonetheless, I shall plan for the worst and hope for the best. This is going to be a great adventure with great friends.
I know some of you will ask what you will need on this ride. So here are some suggestions of what you might need on long rides. If I missed anything of importance feel free to add to the list.
Tools: multi-tools; metric wrenches; metric allen wrenches; standard/phillips screw drivers; tire levers; pumps; patch kit; etc.
Spares: tires (folded); tubes; spokes; etc.
Nourishments: bananas; fig; nuts; power-bars, energy-gels; energy-drinks; water; etc.
Clothing: comfortable riding shorts/pants; spandex; moisture-wicking shirts; riding jacket; riding gloves; helmet; etc.
All these things are not required to have on this ride except maybe the helmet part. This is simply a list for your convenience of caution. Carry what you feel you may need. I have known some ridding-pals to have shared the load among them selves to lesson the burden of their gear. After all there is no need to have ten riders carrying ten pumps… right? Just be sure to think it out clearly and don’t over burden yourself. Though we are invoking the “no rider left behind” policy remember you will be riding at your own risk. So… it would be “hoo” of you to have plans A… B… and C.
You have from now until then to gather all your gear (ie: tools; spares; nourishments; clothing (all ways optional); money/credit cards; etc.) Get some miles logged in before the ride. Be sure to hydrate at least the day before the ride and most importantly get all the rest you can. You will need it!
Come ye come all the Plazita Olvera across from Union Station in downtown LA on the 10th at 8pm… and standby to… GET SOME!!!
